Solid Update

by Matt S., Gear Expert from IL, United States Written on June 17, 2019
A friend owns the Fury HD and they always worked well for him, so when I saw Vortex had upgraded the "engine" essentially for the same price I figured it was time to get a pair of my own.

5000yds max ranging is great because in field use usually delivers about 2/3 to 75% of that depending on your target. Even with flat paint and mediocre conditions, I am getting consistent readouts for my steel targets.

1600yds for deer (or non-reflective/absorbent targets) is longer than I would ever need when taking a shot at an animal.

10x is useful magnification but still controllable without a tripod (although this is tripod adaptable).

For the price, these binos offer more ranging power than I could need which is exactly what I wanted.
Most Helpful Positive Review Amazing binoculars
I sold my Bushnell Fusion 1 mile because I wasn’t happy with the clarity, it’s size & weight on my last sheep hunt. I needed a new binocular with laser range finder capabilities in a smaller package and better customer service. The new Vortex Fury 5000 Gen II fit the bill. Everything I needed packe...

Most Helpful Negative Review Not as good as expected
These are not as good as I expected them to be. The glass is clear but could be better. The rangefinder works but also not as good as I would like. It does well out to 1000 meters but after that it is hit or miss (literally). For the price I would expect better from Vortex. This is my second pair of...

Just what I needed

by TLH, Verified Owner from WI, United States Written on April 24, 2025
Clear, crisp image. I needed the range finder option as well. One thing I did struggle with was setting the eyepiece diopter. It was really stiff at first and didn't want to break a $1,000 pair of Binoculars. Called Vortex and all is working well.
Pros:
  • Sharp Image
  • range finder
Cons:
  • cost
Best Used for:
  • Hunting or target practice

Great bino and rangefinder combo

by Tony Clifton, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on January 18, 2025
I’ve had 2 past Vortex products (Diamondback 10x42 ‘nocs) and was really impressed with the quality for the price. I finally upgraded to the Fury and I’m equally as impressed, not only with the glass, but also the ranger. It’s very accurate and not frustrating, like other rangefinders I’ve had. It’s just another great Vortex product, and an essential part of a hunting system if you are wanting to shoot beyond 250 yds.

DeerHunter57

Perfect for what I needed. Put the range finder away now that it's all in one. Can look and see if it's what you are looking for and range it at the same time.

Good Range Finder Bino

by MiJo, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on November 17, 2024
I wanted a good, simple to use, range-finder binocular with good optics. This Fury HD 5000 10x42 meets my high expectations. Better optics and lighter weight than some of the more expensive range finder bino's on the market. Good ergonomics and I am pleased with this purchase, feeling that I got good value for the price. I would buy these again if I needed to.
Pros:
  • Good ergonomics. Good optical quality. Relatively light-weight.
  • Good ergonomics. Easy to use. Relatively light weight.
Cons:
  • None.
Best Used for:
  • Good enought optics to use as the primary bino when hunting.

Ideal for PRS matches

by Darlon Sinclair, Verified Owner from MT, United States Written on June 2, 2024
I was looking rangefinder/binoculars combo that I could use at my prs matches, tried a few but they didn’t suit my needs. Plus some of them didn’t range as fast would want them to. Finally decided to go with the fury 5000. It was perfect. It ranges fast enough, I didn’t have to deal with battery issues due to Bluetooth connectivity as required by the AB version l. It was just not needed because I already have a kestrel and it does great as it pertains to ballistic data goes. I’d highly recommend this rangefinder combo to anyone with similar needs.
Pros:
  • fast range return time
Cons:
  • none yet
