Great kit! robust binoculars with clear glass and good light transmission - Vortex OPMOD Diamondback HD 10x42mm Roof Prism Binoculars

I purchased these after purchasing a pair of Raptors which were returned very quickly. The Vortex Diamondback HD 10x42 OPMOD Binoculars were a big step up in quality. They are built to last, the center focus knob turns easily and can be manipulated with one finger. The only thing I’m not really fond of is the plastic composition of the twist-up eye cups on the ocular lenses. I’m not confident that they will hold up and remain waterproof over time, but time will tell. They are pretty light and don’t feel heavy around my neck using the neck strap. This is great for use in the outdoors whether birding or surveying your farm/ranch, or your surroundings on a hike. For spot-and-stalk hunting of small to medium sized game or pest animals, I suggest removing the neck strap and using the harness. This will situate the binoculars around the solar plexus area. It keeps them from swinging as you squat, bend, and stoop, allowing you to free your hands to hold/steady your weapon and other gear as opposed to holding swinging binoculars to your chest (using the neck strap). The down side is that brushing up against the nylon case makes noise so you have to learn to work around it in order to move discretely. I think this is a good kit for glassing the terrain while hunting medium to large animals within 150-200 yards. I haven’t used them beyond that range. All in all this is a great kit. I don’t know a lot about binoculars, but these are a step above entry level and they appear to be built to last. They work well for my needs.
