very nice mount
This mount securely places the scope on the rail. What I liked is when inspecting the mount the scope fit well and there were no places (especially the edges) that would score the scope when positioning for proper eye relief. This is going on a Ruger Precision 6.5 Creedmoor for longer range shooting.
Solid as Advertised
Good 20 MOA mount, the finish is what you expect from Vortex, and it gives a little more extra space for my scope.
Pros:
- more mount screws then other similarly priced options
Cons:
- None

Vortex Precision Mount
This is the third Vortex Precision Mount that I have ordered. I believe that it is the best mount for mounting on an AR-10. This mount is solid and the build quality is superb! Do not be intimidated by the cost. If you want unquestionable quality...then you will have to pay to play my friend!
Pros:
- The best precision AR type mount
Cons:
- May seem pricey to some buyers
Best Used for:
- Mounting expensive scope

For a $229 scope mount, I would expect the better quality control from Vortex
I write this review with mixed feelings about the product, out of the box the product looks great and appears to be very well made, it feels like you are holding a high quality product. While I was preparing it for mounting onto my rifle and removing the screws holding the caps on, I felt a binding feeling removing several of the screws. I found the coating applied to the screws and threads was dis-bonding causing that rough binding feeling. I found this to be the case on three of the eight screws holding the caps on, and two of the four screws holding the base mounting clamps. Initially I thought the screws had been cross threaded from the factory. After running a tap through each of the screw holes and cleaned out the material that was flaking off, I installed the caps back on and ensured the screws would torque to the recommended specifications from Vortex without the threads failing. I was able to mount this onto my rifle and mount the scope without further issues. Considering this is the most expensive scope mount I have ever purchased, costing two times more than previous scope mounts I have purchased, I would expect a higher level of quality control out of the box. If it weren't for the fact that I have a metric tap set, there's a good chance I wouldn't have been able to clean the threads and would have caused further damage to the mount. I am happy with the product and feel it is the best fit for my AR-10 and Vortex Razor scope, BUT, I certainly expected better qualit...
