Great Got Better

by Matt S., Gear Expert from IL, United States Written on April 16, 2019
Still probably the best value 1-6x out there, now just lighter.

Have used a friends Raor HD 1-6x a few times and really like it but wasn't ready to spend the money.

When i heard they managed to cut weight and keep everything else the same, I decided it was time to get one.

SFP reticle great for everything from CQB work or known distance work.

The illumination is great, bright enough for the day and gets super dim for low light situations.

Crisp turret adjustments and a smooth magnification ring.

Really impressed with what Vortex did to set the bar in the 1-6x market.
Most Helpful Positive Review What a great scope
I bought this scope to put on my CZ Bren carbine. The scope arrived and I was really impressed. It is so very clear and built like a tank. Put it on the rifle with the mounts I also bought at Optics Planet and went to the range. Zeroed at 100 in about 3 shots. Took it out to 200 - dinged the gong. 3...

Most Helpful Negative Review Amazing sight.
I’ve personally compared this sight to other sights 3 & 4 times the price. The vortex always wins in my book which is why I ordered. But don’t buy it here unless your not in a rush. Going on 3 weeks. I call they say the scope and mount are both in stock but there are warehouse shipping delays. Since...

What's not to like?

by Jay Rock, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on January 25, 2026
It looks like the majority of negative reviews have to do with stock and shipping. As far as the scope goes I have zero complaints. It's 25% lighter than the Gen 1 and the "zero" setting looks to be more like "zero" magnification. Perhaps some folks think that "zero" will mimic an RDS, but there is no magic wand. I usually keep it around 2-3 power and that is more than effective for any "quick" needs out to 100 yards. Past that the 6x is magic. Crisp, clear, precise, Japanese, and beautiful inside and out. I haven't mounted in a Midwest industries quick release mount and between this scope and that mount I can remove and reinstall and the zero is absolutely spot-on. The adjustment knobs for elevation and windage are crisp and tactile. The focus ring has the perfect amount of resistance. I hear Vortex has a heck of a warranty but I prayerfully doubt I'll need it on this. Oh by the way, this was my first Vortex purchase, and I guess I held out so long because I didn't want to be a "Vortex fanboy" but here I am lol.

Great red dot scope

by SoCoNatice, Verified Owner from CO, United States Written on May 24, 2025
This feels like a regular red dot setup when not zoomed in making close ingaments easy. The zoom is sharp and dead on. This was easy to zero.

Vortex Razor HD Gen II

by MMCE23, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on February 3, 2025
Very clear glass. Great eye relief at 1x and dot is bright. Very close to red dot usability in close up drills and shooting. I liked the tool-less turrets and the ability to shut the red dot off between every brightness setting.

Things that don’t have to said

by Matt Hamby, Verified Owner from GA, United States Written on February 18, 2024
I don’t need to tell you that this scope is amazing. It is though. The best 1x you will ever see on a scope hands down. The scope disappears and you get a clean crosshair and absolutely fire bright dot

One of the nicest out there

by Jordan Sheffield, Verified Owner from VA, United States Written on July 19, 2023
This optic has the best clarity I've seen out of an LPVO. The quality and clarity is bar none and I will be buying more vortex products in the future. Having the illuminated reticle is also nice as an option.

Great glass

by Gus, Verified Owner from PA, United States Written on December 27, 2022
This is my first Vortex scope I've purchased, and I'm pretty impressed with this overall. The optical quality is great. 1x has a huge FOV, and 6x is still sharp and plenty of zoom for duty use. The power ring turns easy without a throw lever. The finish seems pretty tough. Tracking is pretty spot on. The illumination is bright and allows you to *almost* use this as a red dot at 1x as the eyebox is pretty forgiving. I put this in a 1.70 Badger mount and the setup is heavy duty; keyword heavy. This is probably the main drawback to this scope is the weight. The other main drawback is the adjustments could be either 1/4 MOA or .1 MRAD. The MRAD adjustments are a little coarse for 5.56, but for a duty rifle it should be okay. A little expensive, but works well.
