Just a bit about me to begin with I have been shooting 3 Gun for almost 10 years and am a USPSA Grand Master
My current scope is a Swaro Z6I BRT; have had it about 2 years and love it. In the past, I've also run the following scopes on my competition rifles: Trijicon Acogs, Burris 1.5-6 and an EOTECH. I have been researching buying a new 1-6 power scope for a while without breaking the bank again on a new Swarovski! So PlanetOptics was very gracious and sent me one to set up and put thru the ringers for the upcoming SSM3G match in Mesa AZ
THE GOOD: As much as it pains me to say it and I really do love my Swarovski, the new Razor has glass that is every bit as good as my $2400 Swaro Z6I - maybe not better, but certainly just as good. The Razor's illuminated dot is just as bright as my Swaro and not just daylight "visible", but daylight "bright as hell". I personally like the Razor's smaller dot size a bit more than the Swaro as it seems like it'd lend itself to slightly more precise shooting when using the dot. I also really like the Razor's 50mil turrets and the "lockable" illumination feature. The Field of View and Eye Relief are unbelievable - looking through the scope in the hotel room, it almost seemed like very close objects were a bit smaller than real life which led to virtually zero lost "vision" around the edges of the scope. The scope is built like a tank and no worries if you do have a problem as Vortex has one of the best customer service and warrantys in the business. I don't think you could hurt this scope unless you drop it out of an airplane or beat it with a hammer.
THE NOT SO GOOD: Not much to report here - about my only gripe would be thats its just a bit heavy but really you never notice it after the clock goes off and you are in the heat of the battle on a 3 gun stage!
SUMMARY: The Razor smokes the Swaro Z6I, at a price point of almost $1K less. Oh ya that what I am talking about and I can almost get 2 of the for the price of a Swarovski It's a awesome scope for the price as the glass and red dot are the real highlights here.
Pros: Really Bright Dot!
Cons: A little on the heavy side.
