I just received the Vortex Razor HD Gen II in the mail. I am very impressed with the level of quality that is put into the scope. I have not mount it yet on my AR15 because I'm considering exchanging it back for either an Aimpoint T2 or an Eotech EXPS-3. My only reason is because of the weight and also because I do not see myself shooting further than 300m and needing a scope after all. The red dot is really bright and the glass is extremely clear. I spent years shooting red dots and it might have affected my muscle memory. I think a scope will be a hard adjustment for me but it doesn't mean it won't be great for others who have the time to learn. I will probably get it again in the future for another rifle that isn't my do it all home defense rifle.
Pros:
- Price
- Durability
- Clear
- sight acquisition

I was more than amazed with this scope. The glass is crystal clear and better than any other scope I currently own which include some big name brands. The 1-6 magnification lets you use this on 1x power as a close up optic with both eyes open. Turning on the red dot allows you to pick up the sight faster in low light. I am very pleased with this purchase and wish i had bought one years ago. I bought the Vortex Precision QD to mount the scope which is also awesome and MilSpec. Fantastic scope for an AR-15 style rifle.
Pros:
- Extremely Clear Glass
- red dot is easy to see with both eyes open
- 6x power lets you see out a bit farther for longer shots
- Perfect scope for an AR-15 platform rifle
Cons:
- None for me
- I wish i had purchased one years ago

This scope is exceptional. The build quality is unsurpassed, the glass is excellent. The JM BDC is right on the money, every shot. Sight in at 200 yards and start shooting some distance. Bullet weights from 55 to 77 grain hit targets flawlessly.

Good Optics in a rugged outer shell. Sighting the gun in was very easy and holds zero with the QD mount. Plan to use it in a very rugged hog hunting situation. The view is great and yo can pick up the target very easily.

a red dot with 6x magnification
best at 100-200-300yrds
both eyes open at 1x w/red dot on, is great with large rear glass
red dot used out to 100yrds for still target
200yrds and 300yrds using cross hairs for still targets
weighs a lot but, tough as any $2000 and up magnified optic
shot slow moving targets out to 300yrds with red dot on, but was not an accuracy test
set up will be for dmr
will set up with offset red dot and flip sights for cqb
train train train
Pros:
- price, toughness, size of rear glass

Built like a tank, perfect for 3-gun. Clear as day and has quick/accurate wind age adjustments. This is the point of diminishing returns for rifle scopes. Pay more than this and you really won’t notice s difference. Vortex has nailed this - and the warranty makes this scope worth it. You won’t regret getting this - it’s the only scope you’ll ever need.

The is the best scoped by far in its class. The field of view is great. The clarity can not be beat in this range as good as a scope 2x the price. The retical is simple but precise. The locking power dial is nice.

Get a scope with a better reticle, a mildot one. I don't know what this kraker jack reticle is, but it's not for serious target shooting. There are no MOA to the top, left, right, and the bottom ones are not symmetrical. This scope is of the finest quality in every way, but the reticle is the biggest joke on the range. WTH were they thinking?!? Also I had to buy a specialize thumb knob to adjust this scope. WTH again!! They should have included it or re-engineer the scope to not need one. Really disappointed with that undisclosed surprise. Knobs on scope stick out far on the left and right side, so if you have a rifle with a side charging handle, you might be busting your knuckle on the scope ... as I do with my Tavor. Real sorry I bought this thing after knowing what I know now.
Pros:
- Sturdy
- Looks good
- Clear
- illuminated
Cons:
- Heavy
- Pricey
- Specialized Zoom Hardware
- Knuckle Buster
- Krappy Reticle
Best Used for:
- Conversation Piece Eye Candy

I love this scope. Great quality product. Unfortunately for me I bought a cheaper optic first. Should have just gone with this awesome scope first. Highly recommended the Vortex Razor Gen ii in any of its models. I now have 3! Can’t beat it. And of course OpticsPlanet shipped fast and has the best prices around!
Pros:
- Price
- Quality
- Clear glass at all magnifications

No doubt this is right at the top of the list of top tier optics for short to mid range shooting. I'm very pleased with the product and the whole purchase process with opticsplanet. They are THE best when it comes to professionalism and customer service. But, back to the point of the review. I've enjoyed what little time I've had with this optic. The glass is very nice and clear, the capped turrets are precise and tight and the illumination dial is amazing with the off feature between settings and 11 different levels of brightness. The 5" eye relief is great also and means I have options with where I want to mount the scope. The thing is built like a tank which means it's super tough and durable. But, it being so tough also means it is heavy, which is the reason it got 4 stars instead of 5. Although I would've given it a 4 1/2 if it were an option. So in summation I would for sure recommend this optic at this price. Any other company would charge 2 grand for this optic but, vortex is always good about keeping prices reasonable. Thank you Vortex and thank you opticsplanet.
Pros:
- Excellent Glass
- Capped turrets
- Solid body
- Great illumination with 11 levels of brightness
- Reasonable price point
Best Used for:
- Target, hunting, competition
