Expert Review

Possibly the finest budget optic ever

by Cal L, Gear Expert from IL, United States Written on September 13, 2016
It was pointed out to me that I have high-end tastes when it comes to optics. I like a crisp reticle, clear lenses, rugged construction, and long battery life. Those attributes can be hard to find in an optical device that doesn’t break the bank. I believe that I finally found the sight that brings everything to the table yet doesn’t cost a fortune.
The mounting is super simple. If you know how to turn a screwdriver, you have all the skills necessary to install this sight on your favorite firearm, so there is no need for a trip to the gunsmith. The screws sit flush, so there is no fear of them sticking out and snagging on anything. A single AAA battery is all that is required to power the unit, and is easy to change out from the front. The buttons on the back of the unit are easy to reach and manipulate. There are no surprises here, the buttons do just what you’d think they should. The mount and battery compartment work together to make this unit sit at just the right height for use on an AR. The adjustment covers moved with just enough friction to make me believe that they aren’t coming off unintentionally. The adjustments themselves where both audible and tactile with their clicks.
This is a prism sight which varies a little form the run of the mill red dot optic. This means that there is a fast adjust focus ring on the eyepiece. This allows you to tailor, the optic to your individual eye. This especially important for those of us with astigmatism or other eye problems....

Most Helpful Positive Review 99% the best 1x sight i have ever used and better then EOTech
I absolutely love this sight. The reticle is absolutely perfect for my style of shooting. I like the large outer ring and medium middle ring and small 1 moa dot. Its extremelt fast on target and super accurate when needed. The build is perfect and controls are great. I love the scope except it badly...

Most Helpful Negative Review Light goes off
Like the engraved prism however the light has been going off while shooting. I have to give it a sharp rap with my hand to get it to come back on. In addition, the light's brightness toggle switch does not seem to be very responsive. I need to hold down for an excessive amount of time for any resp...

Works great, even on a 12-Guage

by Michael. Polley, Verified Owner from TN, United States Written on October 15, 2025
I originally purchased this to be used on my A300 Tactical. It runs flawlessly. It doesn’t have “shake awake” but, a momentary touch of either buttons powers it on at your last setting. Ruggedly built with quality at a great price point.
Pros:
  • Rugged and reliable
Cons:
  • Diopter adjustment is a bit tight

Vortex Review

by Tie R, from SC, United States Written on May 31, 2025
I bought this cause I needed a mid size red dot and with a reputable name. Its alright for the brand. Only thing I don't like is that the red out ring of the red dot actually touches the outer lense. It is not small like in the pictures. This would be used for close quarters, nothing over 50 yards. This site is used for quick acquisition targets.
Best Used for:
  • close quarters

Nice optic for my AR

by Ghost Ninja, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on May 1, 2025
This is my first time owning a prism scope since my trijicon in the Army. I am really impressed with the clarity. I have yet to zero at the range but it looks great. Only issue is that it throws my laser Dbal 2 off but I think with a little refining at the range, it will work out nicely. Once again, impressed and I didn’t intend on purchasing this. Oh yeah and the red and green option are cool too!
Best Used for:
  • AR

44 and 140 MOA, a good reference

by Rick, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on February 28, 2025
Besides having a good image, the 44 MOA circle indicates a 7" target at 15 yards, or a 9" target at 20 yards. The 140 MOA circle indicates the 50 yards distance for a 6-foot tall person. The 120 MOA adjustment is also a good feature.

great eye relief distance

by 300blkout, Verified Owner from PA, United States Written on January 31, 2025
Great distance for eye relief. Optic is very clear. Lots of focal adjustment. Was able to put a 3x magnifier on in front of it to allow far eye relief.

This is solid

by jake, from NC, United States Written on January 10, 2025
I highly recommend this option. The glass is very clear and prisms are an excellent choice do to the fact the optic still has the etching even if the battery dies.

Vortex 1x Prism

by Gunny G USMC, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on December 11, 2024
I bought three or four of these. Bought one to try and then the others. Optics planet had the best price. I had a coupon too. Free shipping.
I have other sights. Other Vortex products plus many other brands that I use depending on my needs and purpose for each build.
I like that the sights are illuminated but work without illumination.
They are tough too. Well built. Vortex customer service is great
Pros:
  • Great customer service
  • Sturdy Built Tough
  • Still useable if batteries die
  • Alternative to red dot sights
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Both eyes open aiming and quick target accuisition
