Summit Carbon Tripod
The summit carbon tripod work well for me. The item is a solid platform ,lightweight and the locks function well. It is later than aluminum obviously so that helps. Mounted with a vortex razor spotting scope; the tripod was stable and held position.
Try something else...
I've had this tripod for right at two months. I've used it exclusively with a very light-weight Opticron MM3 60mm spotting scope. This is my fourth tripod and by far the cheapest made. The positioning handle had pay in up/down movement from the get go. The weight hook fell off even though it has never been used. The adjustment parts of the head are cheaply made. Finally...the head itself developed "play" and scope would move even when adjustments are secure. Returning to Vortex immediately. I knew I should have bought a Manfrotto. No confidence in a Vortex tripod any more.
Pros:
- Lightweight
- compact
Cons:
- Cheaply made
Would recommend: No
Great Tripod!!
This tripod is very well made with fantastic features. It is very sturdy even though it is made out of light weight carbon. All the adjustment and lock knobs are smooth and precise. It has two different size screws to attach your scope or camera to. It has a pan handle that allows you to move your attached equipment in many different angles. The micro fluid head really helps to make any movement you make smooth and precise. I love that you can fold it up into it's carry bag as well. It was the best purchase I've made in a long time. If I was to ever lose or damage this tripod I would definitely purchase another one. I would recommend it to anyone interested in a good quality tripod.
