After 35 years of hunting with "cheap" 8x25 binoculars that crapped out after a few years use, age has degraded my eyesight to the point that they are now practically useless for observation. I have a nice set of Leupold 8x42's, but they are a little large for bow hunting and not practical for constant carry. These Vortex Viper 8x28's have very good glass and will still fit in a jacket pocket. They appear to be well-built and very ergonomic. The rubber coating seems very durable, and the focus is smooth and adjusts easily with one finger. The hard-plastic twist-up eye cups are a nice touch and...

The Vortex Viper 28 mm binos are light weight but feel solid in the hand. The controls are smooth but not too easy so they tend to stay at the user`s adjustment point. The glass is terrific for this price point providing a clear and cleam image edge to edge, even in low light. Close focus is helpful for both bird and bug lovers. We own several binos from Zeiss, Pentax , Nikon and Vortex. With Vortex`s amazing guarantee, terrific price point. solid build and great specs what is not to like about the Viper 28s? Nothing! Buy them if you are looking for a light weight high quality bino and don`t want to pay a small fortune for excellent quality.

I recently ordered a pair of Vortex Viper 28mm binoculars from Optics Planet; this is the second pair of Vortex binos that I have ordered... the first set was the Razor HD 10 X 42s that are a bit larger for use at the range. I wanted a quality pair of binos for traveling and they had to be compact, lightweight and offer adequate performance at a fair price.
With the Viper 8 X 28s, I got everything that I wanted and a lot more; the clarity is superb and quite amazing for a compact set of optics. They feature the adjustable, extendable eye-cups and offer very good eye-relief for both eye-glass wearers and non-eye-glass wearers alike. I could not be happier with the Vortex binoculars and, as always, the price at Optics planet was unbeatable. Delivery was quick and the customer service was over the top. Put me in the "very pleased customer" column once again. You can't beat these binoculars for travel.
Pros:
Great value.
very clear optics and precise adjustments
lightweight and superb quality feel
Cons:
None
Best Used for:
Travel

Light weight but not compact, bright clear image but limited field of view, power is at the max for hand holding a bino of this size/weight.
This bino is just what the specs indicate and if it meets your needs (as it did mine) then this is an excellent choice. Mine came with objective covers that attach to the bino in addition to the rain guard.
Pros:
Nice optics
Cons:
pricy
Best Used for:
Outside activities
