Most Helpful Positive Review Solid product - Good price
The glass is very clear, magnification ring is stiff so switch view lever is recommended but not a must. Rated 4 stars because of tight magnification ring. It took a few range days to feel comfortable with the change from red dot to 1x reticle for CQB but the ability to have variable magnification with one unit is a plus. MOA reticle tested spot on out to 300 yards using hold over with 223 Fed Match ammo. Peer shooters were less than enthusiastic about the scope until they used it. Like test driving a new car home overnight. Once they used it they had to have it. The price point sealed the de...

How Can You Say "NO" This 1x4? You Can't. You Just Can't.

by mtn Yoda, from NV, United States Written on December 5, 2016
I waited to review this scope for almost a year. Over 3,000rds rounds fired using a two different platforms and it just does not get any better for what your spending. I live in a very hot desert during the summer months and put some serious heat on this glass/scope, also firing 1000's of rounds.

Returns to zero very well, even after using it on the other rifle and putting it back on. Had it in the snow as of recent in 15 degree weather and held up like I expected it to.

It has yet to fog,and it's finish is strong. Only minor scratches after lots of use.

I feel the turrets are a little mushier than I want. When turrets read zero they have a tendency to shift when in my take down bags. These turrets however are well built and when they do move, no biggie, just adjust a click or two and viola back to zero. The shims they supply make this a breeze and a sure shot way to guarantee you hold zero on the zero mark on the turret.

Super clear glass in two unique conditions, Mojave Desert in the summer and an alpine forest in the winter.

The reticle is awesome, very crisp and finite but easily visible. Has some similarities to The Primary Arms ACSS Reticles. Really the best in the business in my opinion. Vortex reticle allows me to hit targets at 300 meters with some hasty follow ups shots.

You can find small discounts for the Vortex Viper PST 1x4x24 making this in my opinion the BEST DEAL on the market. Let's not forget to mention their lifetime warranty that has been proven to...

Very good scope

by Tom, from CA, United States Written on June 24, 2016
I use it for CQB as well as distance. Great scope with clear glass. I am considering buying this again for another gun I currently own. It's good for CQB which I was wondering about when I purchased it but at 1x magnification no issues at all.

Great optic/price

For the price, this day optic is hard to beat. At this price point, you would be hard pressed to find a better warranty, as well. I have several Vortex optics and I'm always more than satisfied by the quality and performance of their products.

Viper PST 1-4x24 Riflescope

by Capt. Lee, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on April 26, 2016
I have found Vortex scopes to be excellent quality for the price, hard to beat. I bought this particular Viper PST 1-4x24 scope for a Ruger No. 1. I wanted a reasonably small scope both in size and magnification to fit the aesthetics of this beautiful rifle without overshadowing it, but to also be able to perform well out to a couple hundred yards. The Viper PST is perfect. The TMCQ reticle is excellent in that it draws your eye to the target quickly without hiding the target. Illuminated which helps in low light conditions. And the eye relief was good for me using standard Ruger rings. I love this scope. This is my second, the other a non-capped turret version on a guide gun.
Pros:
  • reasonable price
  • Quick target acquisition
  • Good clarity, nice features and the finish was good. The price was rights as well.
Cons:
  • None
