Love the Dot
I purchased this Vortex Viper for my new Walther PPQ-Q5. It fit using the Plate for the Doctor Red Dot. It was easy to site in and it is right on the money. At 70 ft. rapid fire I had a group of ten rounds in about 4 to 5 inches. Great for me. I'm thinking about purchasing the Vortex Venom for my Ru...

Walther Q5 owners be aware
If you are looking to put this sight on a Walther Q5 pistol, you need to know this. The Doctor mounting plate that comes with the gun matches up fine with this sight. But the screws that come with the gun and the screws that come with the Viper sight will not work. They are either the wrong thread s...

good so far
I haven’t shot with it but I have it mounted. It mounts easily to my picattiny rail.
At first my box was missing the mounting screws and the microfiber cloth. I contacted Optics Planet and within 2 days Vortex delivered a package including stickers, a backpack, a hat and thankfully the screws to mount it. Awesome customer service from both Optics Planet and Vortex.

Good sight. Horrible battery life
I've had it, for about 8 months and I'm on my 3rd battery.. it doesn't have the auto-awake or the 10 minute shut off, is my only cons.. other than that it's a good sight. Easy to mount and easy to sight in.
Pros:
- Easy to mount
- easy to sight in
Cons:
- Battery Life
Would recommend: Yes
Loosen the lock screws in the back
Didn't see the locking screws in back and they tighten them down at the factory so when you take it out of the box loosen the locking screws on the sight adjustment because it will not move and it will also unscrew them from the sight.
Would recommend: Yes
Nice Intro to Red Dot
My new pistol’s rear site isn’t adjustable, so I had to buy the red dot out of necessity. So far it’s performed admirably. It’s especially useful for shooters who wear progressive lenses. The directions would benefit from a drawing or two, especially since the written instructions are unclear.
Would recommend: Yes
Decent Dot
Had this on a Glock for a few years and it did the job. Would go with the Defender line now but back then it was a good option.
Would recommend: Yes
Optic Window
Bought two and they both had the optic windows come loose. I was also not happy to find that I have to remove optic to replace the battery every time.

Vortex Viper
I have several of these. They work great, and they're a good value for the money
Would recommend: Yes
Description was a bit deceiving
I ordered this optic for a Glock 19. No where in the description did I see that I had to have an adapter plate for my pistol. It merely stated "great choice for handguns with cutout slides"
I wouldn't have spent the money on this if I had know I would have to purchase a $60-$75 adapter.

Pros:

Cons:
- Description should be clearer for people who aren't savvy on Optics applications.

Vortex Viper & Trybe G26 Slide Combo
I bought the combo of the slide and the viper red dot since they had a deal at the time on OP. When I went to install the red dot, the dot wouldn’t sit into the slide without me having sand out some material. The tolerance on this might be just a bit too tight with the slide. Anyway, after installation, I notice that the red dot itself has a terrible refresh rate on the lower power settings. I would have to turn it up super high to get it to not have low refresh rate, but that’s a potential issue in low light condition due to the blooming of the dot. I would recommend going with a Holosun if you’re on a budget, or just get an Aimpoint or Trijicon. I wouldn’t buy this again.
Pros:
- None
Cons:
- refresh rate
Would recommend: No
New to Firearms
As the tittle says in new to the firearms industry. My first gun is the Canik tp9sfx I love it. But I wanted to get a red dot and I wanted to test the waters with something in the 100 dollar range and this one kept popping up. So I bought it and have shot close to 300 rounds and it’s hold pretty good. Would I recommend it to new gun owners? Yes
