After looking for a tomato strainer to make my tomato sauce I settled on this one mainly because of the price and it was available. I am very pleases with this machine. I processed 1.5 bushels of tomatoes through it in about 20 minutes and made lots of beautiful sauce for my family. It's about as loud as my KitchenAid Mixer which is nice because it won't wake anyone who is sleeping in the house. It cleans up easily and tear down and assembly is a snap. It is a little messy but not a show stopper. Juice leaks from the splash guard where it connects to the nut on the auger. I got about 2 ...

Awesome unit

Works great! Saves so much time processing tomatoes. Spits out lil seed/skin sausages as waste. Lol. Pretty impressive that it squeezes almost all of the good stuff out with ease. Highly recommend to anyone that has a bumper crop of maters

Good and functional tomato strainer: 5 stars for Optics Planet, 4 stars for Weston

by meLoveToBake, from PA, United States Written on September 18, 2021
The price is below retail. Ordered over the weekend, item arrived Thursday. Product put into action on Friday. You have to use the berry screen (smallest holes) to keep tomato seeds out of the sauce. That knocked off one star- I really think that a 'Tomato Strainer' should have a dedicated tomato screen with holes a little bigger than the berry screen. Then you'd have a choice between a real smooth sauce or a slightly chunky sauce. We are novices at sauce making and canning and got a late start in the season. This strainer made the process simple. We used raw tomatoes and had no performance issues. Another reviewer (some other website) had cautioned their strainer was ruined by tomato juice that got into the unit and ate away at the motor, so it didn't work for the 2nd season. So, unplug from electricity and look into the channel where the auger goes to make sure it's dry before packing it up. Not sure how that person got juice in there.. ours was completely dry. Haven't yet, but we plan to attempt applesauce and pumpkin next. I expect we will get a lot of use out of this and highly recommend it to others. Thank you OpticsPlanet.com !
