Poor quality and improper handling.
Tool arrived with scuffs, dings, and the receiver shaft has a small ridge that runs its length, tool/not round. Even after removing the burs cleaning up the dings and lubricating liberally, the out of round shaft scared the interior of my upper where the bolt resides. The tool was properly packaged...

Was not true
Threw mine in the lathe to square off the giant chamfer on the working face of this tool that really shouldn't be there and it wasn't even true. Very disappointing. I should have just made my own.

Don’t waste your time with this… they didn’t increase the size of the cutting head to accommodate AR10 barrel extensions so it will not cut the entire surface… Idk how anyone at Wheeler could have approved this but they need to find new people

Highly effective
In just a short period of time, this tool let's you alleviate one possible inconsistency. Shots were more consistent after truing the face of the receiver.

laps great BUT!
Says it’d work for an AR-10 but the diameter isnt round enough for an Aero Precision upper. It leaves about a 1/16th” metal ring that it didn’t lap off.

Not built right - avoid
The concept of the lapping tool sounds good. I do see how the mating face of my AR10 upper could affect accuracy which lapping would "True" the alignment to the BCG and barrel extension, which seems like it couldnt hurt to squeeze out a little more accuracy. However this Lapping tool is poorly built and executed. The lapping face of the tool is too narrow and doesnt go to the outer edge of the upper mating face. It is also poorly machined and has a "grooved" face which put round/circular depressions in the mating face of my upper. If I hadnt caught it soon enought it could have ruined my upper all together. I would avoid or buy a better quality lapping tool from an other manufacturer.

The lapping face of the tool is too small and has a chamfer on the edge. That chamfer began to grind a conical gouge into my receiver and almost ruined it before I caught it.

Well Made Product
Excellent tool and very easy to use. Lapping can be done without using the drill adapter. You only need to remove a few millimeters to square the barrel mating surface. The only issue is the package had been opened and everything was rattling around in the box. Doesn’t appear to be damaged. -2 stars for selling an open package.

Worth the money
Just a bit of oil on the main journal and then the cutting compound on the larger one (just follow the instructions) and in a few seconds of use, you are good to go.
Very easy to use and a good value for the money. I'd expect getting dozens, if not many multiples of that, uses out of the amount of compound they send you alone. If properly stored, I can see the tool itself lasting forever.

Wheeler 308 Lapping Tool
I bought this to use on a AR 308 build to make sure the surfaces were straight and true. It was easy to use and did its job without an issue. The flexible attachment for a hand drill was useful as well. You could make the same tool using a lathe but for those who don't, the price of this tool is just right.
