Wheeler Lapping kit works great
The Wheeler scope alignment and lapping kit is a must have for properly mounting optics. It will quickly smooth out the interior of the rings so that you maintain an even and solid mounting surface for your scope. Also once lapped, the ring no longer mar the exterior finish of the scope.

No shame at all
Buyers beware. This set arrived to my home without the 1-inch lapping bar. I contacted Optics Planet to no avail and gave them the heads up on a quality and control issue with this product. Word of advise verify items same day and plan on returning it for exchange.
34mm Wheeler Scope Ring Alignment and Lapping Kits
New Scope, base and precision rings recently purchased. I always lap the 1" and the 30mm rings. Well I couldn't find the 34mm lap bar or a kit at any of my local stores or gun shops so I installed the new scope without lapping. BIG MISTAKE ! I knew better but I wasted my time doing it anyway. I ordered this kit and solved all my issues. Bore sighted, and shot 1 was inch and a half high. Made 1 adjustment and dead on.

Wheeler Scope Lapping kit
Well made product. I ordered these to check my scope rings and lap them if needed when mounting my scopes. I guess the only complaint I would have is the box that the manufacturer packs the kit in is pretty much useless for the weight of the kit. Box was destroyed. But that’s minor as long as it doesn’t bust the plastic container of compound. But the packing from Optics planet was sufficient to contain the product. I highly recommend this kit if you mount a lot of scopes. Even if it’s only to check scope ring alignment.

Point filed down
One of the points of the 30mm levels was flattened. Not sure if it was dropped or just overlooked during the inspection process, but it makes it impossible to level my rings perfectly. It’s not worth dealing with the hassle of returning them so I’ll just chalk it up as a loss

WHEELER HONING BAR
Having bought a 1” Wheeler honing kit before through Optics Planet before, I had no doubt their service would be great. The 34” bar performed as expected. There’s two good reasons why you should hone your scope mounts. Firstly, the factory mounting surface probably will only contact the scope at the edge/s of the mount. This could result in your screws loosening over time. Secondly, achieving a 70% mating to the scope greatly increases holding strength with the recommended torque. Too much torque will crush your scope tube!

Does the job
Decent kit for lapping and aligning scope rings. I haven’t had any marked or creased scope tubes since I started using these lapping kits. I wouldn’t say all the components in the kit are of high quality but it is adequate for the job.

Quality product
A must have item for mounting a rifle scope, especially for long range shooting. Good quality and comes in a protective case. Fits any barrel side. Small level is magnetic. Should last a lifetime. A++

Needed 34mm
I purchased a new scope from Optics Planet with a 34mm tube. Realizing I need 34mm alignment rods to do a proper mounting job I again went to Optics Planet. They arrived quickly and also included the rod to lap the rings as well.

getting the best accuracy out of your scope
the wheeler scope alignment and lapping kit is a must have, the kit is easy to use it and it has good instructions.I use the 1 inch as well as the 30mm kit. alignment of your rings and lapping the rings plus torqueing ring and mounting screws is doing it right.
