Wilson chekered front strap Blue
First impressions are that is too flimsy BUT after installing with spray adhesive and trimming to fit a compact frame it has worked out well. No complaints here. This one is blue anodized aluminum but silver is available. It comes sized to fit a full size frame. This is a stamped or pressed product rather than milled.
Good to go
I’ve had it for a couple of weeks now and so far there are no issues. I put 200 rounds thru my 1911 last weekend. Improve grip much like hand cut checkering does. Iv read other reviews where there are complaints of the part slipping up and down the front strap under recoil. I’ve had no such issues. I did pita very thin layer or silicone on the backside before I locked it down with my VZ grip panels.

1911 Frontstrap
The Wilson Combat 1911 checkered front strap is a nice addition to the models with a smooth front surface. This helps with a secure grip. Currently its only available in two colors. It would be nice to have in black.

Easy install, Improved grip.
Super easy to install under your 1911's grips, and greatly improves the grip of any 1911 that didnt come factory with front strap checkering. Combined with a pair of vz operator grips, Im convinced godzilla himself couldnt rip the gun from your hands.

I’m suprised at how well this adhered to the grip with the Wilson’s combat starburst pattern grips in place. Looks amazing on my 1911 loaded. Anywhere to add pics ?

cheap checkering
I was completely skeptical about these Willson combat front straps, but after seeing pics of them installed i decided to try. They fit incredibly well on full size Tisas, Kimber, and Springfield Armory 1911's. I love the feel of them, and it makes my pistols look high end. Showed my friend one installed and he could not believe it was a simple add on. Best $10 gun investment

Best single upgrade I've made
As others have said, on first glance it looks something like a stamped aluminum micro-cheese grater...But after installing one on a Springfield RO Elite Operator (yeah, yeah, I know), for me, this gun took on a whole new life. Grip weld went from just good to truly 'welded'. Mad level leap in controllability, yielding super tight grouping in rapid fire.
Installation was easy...slide the tabbed edge under the grip panel, hook the tab on the frame cutout, then slide the other edge under the opposing panel, tighten everything down, and done! No wiggle or movement, solid.
Speaking for myself, this has been the single most important mod I have added to a 1911, hands down.

On first inspection, feels better than I imagined
I prefer a fingered-groove grip on my 1911, but in order to have the option to keep it more of a stock look, I decided to give these a try. Although I haven't gotten them fitted yet, my first impressions are the front-strap is INCREDIBLY tactile, to the point of feeling like a micro-grater against my fingers. Almost razor-thin in thickness, don't think I would barely notice a change in grip-size. I can see them being very effective, whether shooting bare-handed, or gloved.

Vast Improvement
Basically transformed my 1911 GI into a true warrior lol Definitely recommending this to any duty carry or heavy range usage 1911. The only nitpick I have is getting it aligned just right and even onto the firearm when installing.

Wilson Checkered front Strap
These are, at first glance, cheap, thin, cheeze-grater-like stampings of aluminum. But, I knew that going in. Once I installed it on my Springfield, I loved it, and still do. These are well-engineered parts. When you see one edge crimped, there's a reason for it. Yes, the grips will hold them on perfectly, even though there is very little contact. Put them on as they are, and like it, or pay $250 to have your frame milled.
