Lower profile to prevent possible accidental release
The lower profile means that it is less likely to accidentally be depressed when carrying close to the body (for right-handed shooters), or protruding as far out for left-handed shooters. Typical Wilson Combat quality. Dropped right in my Ruger SR1911 without any fitting necessary.

Great traction...
This extended mag release is a go to for me and my 1911’s. I have shorter fingers and this allows me to drop mags without manipulating the weapon in my hand to 90•. So reloads are faster. I carry an officer model at the 2-3 o’clock position IWB, and this release does not effect anything while being holstered. Never had an accidental mag release while carrying. Plus there is plenty of traction on the button itself with the stippling.
