Absolutely terrible tool. Followed every instruction down to the fine details. It bulged my magazine tube bad enough that the barrel no longer will slide over the tube. It also left enough of the dimple in the magazine tube that the follower won’t even freely pass through. I wouldn’t recommend this tool in any way shape or form unless you’re looking to destroy your gun.
absolutely terrible
Bought this to remove the remington dimples. Lubed everything, and it still got stuck. I was able to twist it and apply rear-ward pressure. I did manage to get it out.
Now my barrel won't go on without being tapped into place only for it to warp the tube enough for my end cap to not tread on correctly and just wants to cross thread.
I fixed the issue by filing down the dimples (from the outside) enough for my barrel to go back on with minimal force. The end cap is still 10×harder to remove, but it goes on without cross threading, and everything still functions , so i guess that's a win. Bad product DO NOT BUY unless you want to fight with it all night like i did.

Magazine Tube Detent Swage
I wanted to install a mag tube extension on my Remington 870, but did not want to drill out or file down the detents in the mag tube. This swage was the answer to that issue. You hammer it in, pull it out (I had to use some vice grips), the detents are gone and your mag tube is intact. I don’t know how many times you’ll use it on others’ shotguns, but it was worth getting it to me.

Mag tube Detent Swage
The swage was very simple to use. You lubricate it & your mag tube, strike it with a rubber or plastic mallet so it goes past the detents & then pull it back out. I used a pair of vice-grips to help extract it. A few taps on the vice grips got it out.
Pros:
- Works well without having to drill or Dremel the detents out.
Cons:
- Cost.
- cost. Cry once and then use it
Best Used for:
- Detent removal.

Stucking in the mag tube
I did apply lubricant on it before I knock it in, then it's just stucking in the tube and can't take out anymore. I'll update my solution if I'm able to take it out. Almost works
I was careful and had to knock this in 6-7 times, still had to get out Drexel and file to make room for magazine follower, had to put in vice after each use to get it out of magazine tube? I put oil on it each time I use it, never made enough room to let follower freely slide. Works only if your ready to do more work at the end. I did not want to drill holes, so there are still slight bumps in magazine tube at the finished process. Was hoping this would be easy, it was not.

Simple Tool For 870 Magazine Ext. Install
An essential tool for installing magazine extensions on 870 shotguns and clones. I have an H&R pump which is a Norinco manufactured clone of the 870. I purchased a Blunderbuss Technologies +2 extension and just like the 870 the magazine tube is dimpled. This inexpensive well made tool is the best way to go of the various methods for removing the dimples. Before beginning I measured the ID of the tube and the OD of the tool. The tool was properly sized and had proper clearance. The tool worked exceptionally well for it’s purpose. The only negative of the tool is the surface finish of the swage portion. It is serviceable but for its purpose a polished finish is preferable and as such I polished the surfaces with 320G before usage. Not necessary but recommended. Additionally follow the directions and use sufficient high quality grease and a brass drift to metal work the dimples with the swage installed.
Pros:
- Inexpenseive
- GREAT TOOL

Detent swage 12 gauge
Item arrived and was as described. I was able to remove magazine tube dents to add an extension to my Rem 870 Express shotty. Good price. Took about a week and a half for this order to get to me but it was worth the wait. Saved about 50 bux on full length swage from elsewhere

XS Sight Systems XS Magazine Tube Detent Swage - Rem 12 ga RE-7000-1
This tool worked very well for me. I didn’t want to grind the detents down, or drill them out. I lubed the swage with gun oil, tapped it in, and lightly tapped the detents flat with a small auto body hammer. Ten minutes time. The results were as if the detents were never there.
Pros:
- Cost less than a gun smith would charge. Happy with the results.
Cons:
- None

Couldn't be easier
Reluctant to drill out the detents, and create additional entry points for dust/grit, I spent a few dollars on this tool. And am glad I did! The procedure took less than 10 minutes and required no additional sanding or filing. I used a brass punch for final finish to avoid marring the original bluing on the magazine. Also used a 1" scope ring around the mag tube upon insertion of the swage to avoid any possible distortion to the metal. The result was better than expected and worth the expense of the tool.
Pros:
- Ease of use
- Excellent result
- Well finished tool
Cons:
- Expense of another tool
Would recommend: Yes
Easy to use
Being that this is a relatively new product and there aren’t any reviews or videos out about this product, I feel obligated to talk about it. This was very easy to use as I removed the dimples in 3 Tac-14s in about 20 minutes. Definitely recommend doing this and not drilling out the dimples. You’ll need a 1/4” and/or 1/8” punch, small hammer, and some grease. Great product.
Pros:
- easy to use
Cons:
- One time use
Best Used for:
- Adding rounds
Would recommend: Yes
