My reason for purchasing this deflector was more for aesthetics. It currently has a home on my suppressor host PSA DOE 9mm pistol which looks great when attached. While testing it out on the range, my colleague was shooting his 11.5" SBR with a YHM Phantom brake. Like all tanker style brakes they are extremely loud especially for those to the left and right. In some cases they can be so loud you can feel the sound rattle your organs. So I got his attention, removed my deflector of the DOE, he smiled and I told him to please use this.
Low and behold it did what it was designed to do. Directing most of the sound forward and eliminating the lateral shockwave associated with brakes. That being said, when you're not running a suppressor on your firearm and you have a YHM muzzle brake or flash hider, I really do recommend acquiring one of these. I like this attachment so much I plan on getting one for every firearm I have that uses a YHM muzzle device.
Cons:
- pricey - but buy once cry once

The YHM Phantom QD Mount is chunky but what can I say, I like the way it ratchets down secure. It looks kinda ridiculous though when you’re running it sans suppressor and the blast deflector solves that problem. It is quite large in diameter, about the size of a suppressor but much shorter. I had been previously using a Breek Arms blast shield over a muzzle brake (not the Breek Lock) and was much narrower. Does its job deflecting the concussion down range. If you’re ever using a firearm with the Phantom QD without the can, this is a must have.
Pros:
- Looks good
- tightens secure

Quick shipment and quality packaging. The only discrepancy I would have is that the coating will need to be touched up with High Temperature paint as there was finish imperfections which will not impact functionality. For the price point, my expectation is the finish should not have any rework required.

This YHM blast deflector works as it should. It directs all the gas forward away from the shooter and anybody next to me at the range. It is very easy to install and remove. Looks great on my 5.56 and 300blk SBRs.

I bought this with YHM flash hider for a pistol build. The build is going to be a suppressor dedicated build once the nfa paperwork clears. I decided to go with an 11.5 barrel length for reliability and still be compact with a can on the end. With my long arms I found 10 inch rails to be too short so I went with a 12 inch rail. The blast deflector sticks out the end of the rail about 1/8 inch and looks pretty clean. Functionality it works great and will go on my 16 inch upper when I go to an indoor range. While I agree with the previous review that it mitigates some of the muzzle device's effectiveness, that's to be expected. I definitely don't call that a negative. Anything you put around the end of a muzzle device with the exception to a suppressor is going to do that! Not to mention it's cheaper then all the ones I've seen that mount to a suppressor compatible muzzle device.
Pros:
- Fit & finish
- Price and install ease
Best Used for:
- Waiting for your form 4 to come back

Attaches to YHM QD mounts with solid lockup, the same as their silencers. Directs the muzzle noise and blast forward, as to limit the concussive forces felt by the shooter or others nearby. Best used on a busy range as to not disturb your neighbors, and may prove worthy in the event of an indoor defensive gun use. Only negative is that it will make your brake less effective.
