Carl Zeiss German-made quality
My wife and I have reached the age where reading glasses always have to be at-hand, and I still have a hard time seeing small details. She had a smaller 75mm cheap plastic hand magnifier which was not very effective. The reason is that it is just a bit too small to see well with both eyes, and there is a lot of distortion around the edges. Then there is the incessant glare from the ambient lights.
I bought her the 6 diopter 100mm aspheric magnifier, and the clarity is stunning. This is an excellent size for use as a general-purpose magnifier for looking at maps, reading the fine-print et...

Best Gerneral Purpose Magnifier
This is the second Zeiss magnifier I have purchased. The first was a D12. This one provides about 2.7X magnification and is more comfortable to use, creating a larger image than the D12 at slightly lower magnification. Net result is that my wife has taken possession of the D6 and I have my D12 back.

Zeiss Optics Aspheric Hand Magnifier D6 Hard Coating
This Zeiss Optics Aspheric Hand Magnifier D6 Hard Coating is a high quality product. Right away, one can clearly see the difference using this magnifier compared to most average glass magnifiers. Getting the AR Coating version helps with avoiding glare from outside sources such as room lights. The price is a little on the high side, but this Zeiss magnifier is a quality product which should last one's lifetime.
Pros: High Resolution / Clarity / Exceptional Quality
Cons: Price is a little high

Good Item, could been better
For what you get there ois so much so very much better, like the product but redicupous price in not ast all worth it.
Have a Brookstone illuminated magnifying class that in both solidness feel optics and quality completely blows this item away. And only at a minor fraction of the cost.
Pros: Nice feel, Excellent name
Cons: As new things come out they seem to be getting cheaper and cheaper in quality, old real craftsmanship has officially died
