What Is Superlative Arms Bleed Off?

When using a Superlative Arms gas block, the term "bleed off" refers to reducing the amount of pressure in the weapon. A Superlative Arms gas block bleeds off the excess pressure so that the minimum amount needed to drive the bolt carrier remains. This process lets the rest of the gases escape from the weapon, reducing heat buildup and allowing your AR15 to run as cool and clean as possible.

Are Adjustable Gas Blocks Worth It?

An adjustable gas block is an excellent investment for a lot of shooters, as it allows you to control exactly how much gas travels to your bolt carrier. This is particularly useful if you're shooting with a suppressor or if the firearm has a shorter barrel than the standard 16 inches, as reducing the pressure also reduces recoil and muzzle flash. This helps keep your firearm cool and concealed and can even help lower the overall recoil.

What Size Adjustable Gas Block Do I Need?

Thankfully, most AR15s are built with standardized part sizes, so you're often safe with an adjustable gas block that is 0.750 inches in diameter. This is the standard width of barrels for AR15s, so it will fit perfectly. However, if you have a barrel that is based off of the original M16 design, often known as a "pencil barrel," then you'll need a gas block that is 0.625 inches in diameter.
