It says weapons mountable, what caliber is it rated for? Is it just .556, or can it handle 308?

Most night vision can’t handle more than a .223, hour best bet is to get it mounted to a helmet and then mount an IR laser to the gun if your going to use this for a 308 platform.

Product Info for US NightVision USNV-PVS-14 Monocular Small Arms Kit

U.S. NightVision USNV-PVS-14 Monocular is currently used by the U.S. Armed Forces and Special Ops Units. The night vision system by US NightVision has recently been redesigned to operate on a single "AA" battery. The US Night Vision PVS-14A NightVision Monocular includes a built-in IR illuminator, fully adjustable headmount and mil-spec multi-coated optics. Automatic Brightness Control and Bright Source Protection are standard.image

The manual gain control feature allows the user to increase or decrease image tube brightness for best possible image contrast in high and low light conditions. The most versatile night vision system on the market, the US NightVision PVS-14 Alpha can be used hands-free, head-mounted, helmet mounted, weapons mounted or attached to a camera/camcorder for nighttime photography.
