Can this be mounted on the m1a loaded version? The one that has the medium contour barrel?

The CASV-14 does not work on the M1A Loaded model due to the larger barrel diameter of the medium contour barrel included on those rifles.

Can this be used on one m1a, then installed on a different m1a, later? Or is it mated with one m1a for life?

Yes, the CASV-14 handguard can be removed and installed on a different rifle after removal. It does not "mate" to rifle like some of the other M1A products/mounts do. The only caveat to this is that the "rear mounting block" piece may need to be replaced. It sometimes requires fitting to slide into the dovetail of your M1A receiver. If material needs to be removed from the "rear mounting block", a new one may need to be sourced from VLTOR to install the CASV-14 on a separate rifle. It is a replaceable component.

The rail/hand guard looks amazing! The little bit of customization by my gunsmith was not difficult (I have the archangel stock and match barrel). Vltor says this is not compatible but works with some trimming. I couldn’t be happier

Looked for almost a year for this rail system. Seems like VLTOR is not making many of these anymore. Instal required a lot of hammering, but after that it was simple. I really like my Socom 16 with this rail system now. IT'S BADASS!!!
