Extra high height or ideally an AR platform designed one piece mount would put you at the proper height between 1.4" - 1.6". You will notice the front sight in the lower portion of the optic but it will become less noticeable as you move up in magnification.
Bought this to put on a suppressed 300AAC Blackout AR for close to medium ranges. Compact scope fits well, and zoom range is great for this application.

This is my first Vortex scope, and I am quite pleased thus far. Mounted securely with some Vortex rings. Easy to zero and will hold it! Even under PTR.308 recoil!

Great scope. Excellent clear scope that has great low light capability. Holds its zero very well and is easy to adjust with audible clicks for the adjusments. Zeroed mine in for 200yds with my M1A and got a decent 3in group. Not bad for a 5x
