Is this mil spec? Do you need an adjustment gas block or any recommendation what weight of buffer to use? Thanks Manufacturer Answer

The geometry is mil-spec, but the weight is not. This BCG uses a grade 5 titanium carrier which is significantly lighter weight than steel. You do need an adjustable gas block to use as it is intended. Tune your adjustable gas block so your brass ejects at approximately 4:30 and you will achieve a reduction in felt recoil. Using a heavier buffer instead of using an adjustable gas block simply results in the weight being added back in.

Will the titanium carrier cause unusual wear on my steel bolt or the upper receiver compared to a standard phosphate or chrome one? Manufacturer Answer

No — it won’t cause abnormal wear.
A titanium bolt carrier group has roughly 1/3 less mass than a standard steel BCG and is intended to be used with an adjustable gas block. Tune the gas so brass ejects around the 4:30 position.

Without tuning, the lighter mass allows the BCG to cycle too quickly and the rifle will behave as if it is over-gassed. Proper tuning brings carrier velocity back to normal operating speed while also reducing recoil impulse.

Made to exacting quality standards, the Walker Defense Research low-mass titanium bolt carrier group (BCG) is approximately 67% of the mass of a traditional steel full-auto profile BCG, while offering exceptional durability from the use of Grade 5 titanium coated in Ionbond DLC (Diamond Like Carbon). The bolt itself now features a nickel boron coating for heat dissipation, ease of cleaning, better lubricity, and enhanced reliability. This BCG is intended to be used in conjunction with an adjustable gas block to achieve recoil reduction by tuning the gas setting of your rifle appropriately. This is an excellent addition for a lightweight build or for use in competition (3 gun) shooting.image
