Unfortunately, that detail is a mistake. Both bases are 1-piece bases. The only difference is color.

Big robust mount needed for x frame pistol and this mount fits the bill. tight fit to pistol and the pickatinny rails hold the rings tight. Very happy so far and of course Optics Planet service is tops.

Mounts with no problems and with Warne rings, it holds up to the hard hitting recoil of the S&W 500. My Aimpoint 9000sc red dot was right on the money the first shot. Pros: Best quality Cons: none

Good solid base. Since I had low mount rings I had to take the front sight off to be able to adjust the scope fore & aft. Couldn't see it anyway with the low mount. Also had to shim up the front of it because the gun shot WAY high.

Product Info for Warne Matte Scope Base For Smith & Wesson X Frame

Warne Matte Scope Base For Smith & Wesson X Frame on sale and available from our online store. OpticsPlanet, Inc is an Authorized US Distributor for Warne Rifle Scope Mounts, Rings and Bases. This base comes in a silver/matte/gloss finish and is specifically designed for use on S&W K, L, N & X frame revolvers. Made from solid steel to handle recoil, this base is the first of its kind. The S&W rear sight is removed to install most scope mounts. Warne's base allows the user to reinstall the rear sight and front sight onto the top of the base. The factory sights are then fully functional. The base also accepts all Weaver style scope rings.image
