Winchester has been in the Ammo business since 1873, and Winchester Shotgun Ammo has been on the market since 1886. Since then, they've been making ever-evolving Winchester 12-gauge shotgun shells in target loads, upland game loads, waterfowl loads, turkey loads, buckshot shotshells, rifled slugs, and sabot slugs.
What is the company that makes Winchester 12-Gauge Ammo?
Winchester Brand Ammo is made by the Olin Corporation, a U.S.-based company, and all Winchester 12-gauge ammunition is made in the USA.
How many rounds of 12-Gauge Ammo does a box hold?
An average box of 12-gauge ammo has 25 shotshells. A "flat" is 10 boxes or 250 shotshells (10 boxes of any other kind of ammo is usually called a "brick"). A case is 20 boxes or 500 shotshells.
However, certain specialty hunting loads, buckshot, and rifled slugs or sabot slugs may have only 5, 10, or 15 shotgun shells. This is because a shooter is not going to be using them in high volumes, like those used for upland game hunting and especially for target shooting like sporting clays. A flat is still 10 boxes so they may range between 50 to 150 shotshells. A case is still 20 boxes, so they may range between 100 and 300 shotshells.
