X-Bolt Speed models have a well-earned reputation as reliable, straight-shooting hunting rifles. These rifles stand-out from other guns — both in terms of performance and looks — with a barreled action protected by a durable Cerakote finish, camouflage on the lightweight composite stock, and a fluted, sporter weight precision barrel. But a rifle doesn't become a legend by looking good. Fortunately, the awesome appearance of the Speed rifle was more than ably backed-up by its tack driving performance. 

The new X-Bolt 2 Speed LR SR has the performance-driven features of the Speed rifle and is ready for use with an optional suppressor. The lengths of the fluted sporter contour barrels have been optimized and run 2" longer than standard lengths (to a maximum of 26") for added bullet velocities. The muzzle is belled to accommodate the larger 5/8"-24 suppressor-ready threading. A radial muzzle brake and thread protector cap are included, and an optional Browning Recoil Hawg Sporter muzzle brake for extra reduction in recoil can easily be added. The action is bedded and the barrel is free floated for consistent accuracy. The barrel specifications make this rifle an excellent choice for both hunting and long-range practice sessions.

Whether you are a hunter or an aspiring competitor, if you are looking for extra magazine capacity, the Speed LR delivers with the new Plus Magazine system. It uses our proprietary Plus Magazine — a single stack, extended design — that holds 5 or 6 rounds depending on the cartridge. The Plus Magazine system retains the shoulder holding feature of the X-Bolt rotary magazine and uses the same center feed design — two features designed prevent damage to the tips of bullets in the magazine under recoil or when loading to the chamber. The Plus Magazine system has easy insertion and ejection with a convenient side mounted release button. 

The Cerakote Smoked Bronze finish is applied to the redesigned action and barrel for metal protection that exceeds traditional bluing or stainless steel. The DLX Trigger is a three-lever design that offers zero creep, zero take-up, and zero overtravel performance and comes preset from the factory at 3.5 pounds. (Adjustable down to 3.0 pounds.)

The lightweight Vari-Tech composite stock features 3-way adjustment, the concealment of Browning OVIX for excellent concealment in a variety of terrain and environments, and the new, thicker Inflex recoil pad.

With the Vari-Tech stock, Browning has a configurable stock with adjustment that is on par with many chassis-style stocks. Adjustments can be easily made to the comb height to dial-in the alignment between your eye and optics. Length of pull is adjusted internally with spacers for a solid, rattle-free feel. Even the grip angle can be changed by switching between the sporter and vertical grip modules. On the subject of grip, rubber overmolding on the gripping surfaces provides added security in all conditions.
