Does the barrel come with a thread protector?

The Faxon Firearms 16in, Big Gunner, 6.5 Grendel Barrel uses 5/8x24 threads and does not include a thread protector.

Is this barrel compatible with a 6.5 Grendel type II BCG?

Yes, the barrel has a SAAMI spec chamber so it will require a Type II bolt for proper headspace and function.

Do I just need BCG, Barrel and magazine to convert AR-15 from 556 to 6.5 Gren?

Generally speaking, yes, a barrel, bolt/BCG, and magazine are the core components that you will need to swap an AR-15 from 5.56 to 6.5 Grendel. You may also need a new gas block and gas tube if the barrel you purchase requires a different size gas block or length of gas tube than you currently have on the rifle.

No, the barrel comes with a plain gas block journal. You would need to have a gunsmith add a dimple if you would prefer one on the gas block journal.

No, these barrels do not come dimpled, but one can be added by a qualified gunsmith.

Faxon Firearms' description for this barrel on their website claims the gas block journal diameter is 0.750", but it says 0.625" here. Which is right?

This barrel requires a .750" Diameter gas block. There appears to have been a typo on this site's description, but it has since been corrected and should read .750" now.

A standard spring will work just fine with a H1 buffer.
