Will this buffer kit work on a aero m5 308 lower.

Yes, the Griffin Armament Griffin Stock Mounting Kit will be compatible with the Aero M5 lower receiver. It includes the AR-SOB buffer which weighs 4.9 ounces and can be used in suppressed 5.56mm rifles and in 308 carbines as a replacement for H2 and H3 buffers.

Is this buffer kit just for suppressed rifles or both?

It's optimized for suppressed rifles, however it will run non suppressed just fine.
