It will work as long as tube diameter is 30mm

can anyone tell me what the height to center of this mount is? standard?, 1/3? or taller?

The height from the bottom to the center of the ring would be 22mm or .85inchs.

fixed front sight on ar15. what mount would you recommend for the utg 3x12x42 30mm low profile compact scope

The Leapers UTG ACCU-SYNC 30mm High Profile mount that I would recommend is the 50mm version. The 73mm mount would be better for scopes that have a long eye relief. With the mount, it will not clear your fixed front sight and you will see a blurry image of it but that is pretty normal as you would have to use a very high mount to clear the front sight completely.

That is dependent on the height of the front sight in question, but assuming you are asking about an AR-15 fixed front sight, this mount might be a little too short. Overall height of this mount to optical center is 1.45" while the height of a fairly standard fixed front sight on an AR-15 is approximately 1.41".

At 3x magnification you may see a blurry image of the top of the front sight near the bottom of the field of view, but past 4x, the magnification should push your field of view past the front sight.
