There is no efficient way to mount this to a tactical helmet without buying or combining multiple adapters that are not guaranteed to work properly. This is designed to be a handheld unit.

how many yards can I see in total darkness?

Expert Answer
A
Answered by Armando R., Gear Expert, from IL, United States, on June 08, 2021

All night vision, both analog and digital, require at minimum some ambient light or IR illuminator as night vision works by amplifying existing light. This unit will not work properly in pitch black, but with the IR illuminator you could likely see out to 50-100 yards. With a higher quality illuminator or moonlight you may be able to see farther depending on atmospheric conditions.
