The reticle is not calibrated for .223/5.56. The reticle has marks which represent the drop of a 22lr bullet. You could put this on a 5.56 AR but its not ideal.

Yes this would be an excellent scope for a MP15-22. You would need a cantilever mount for a 1 inch tube.

Ring height is determined by the objective lens diameter.

General guidelines for a rifle with a standard barrel that tapers towards the muzzle are:

32 - 42mm: low
44mm: medium
50mm: high
56mm: extra-high
