Q

How does it stay in place? Does it just slide back and forth all willy nilly?

A
Answered by Brandon, member, from UT, United States, on December 11, 2020

This will function normally, just like we're all used to. Strike states you can depend on reliable receiver lockup through a hidden spring mechanism that uses the charging handle insertion slot in the upper receiver charging handle channel. If you look at one of the individual photos, you can see the silver mechanism about an inch up from the handle.

Can this handle be safely used on ar15 chambered in 7.62x39, with 16" barrel?

Expert Answer
A
Answered by Armando R., Gear Expert, from IL, United States, on January 16, 2020

Yes, there shouldn't be any real issue as it is just a standard AR-15 charging handle with no latch. If you are for some reason cautious, then I would just recommend going with a standard latched charging handle.

Will this work on my HK 416 22 LR pistol/carbine style?

Expert Answer
A
Answered by Armando R., Gear Expert, from IL, United States, on January 16, 2020

Compatibility with the .22 model of that firearm cannot be guaranteed. You will need to reach out to H&K to verify compatibility with standard AR-15 charging handles and the .22 LR chambered model of the 416.

Q
Layton, member, from LA, United States, asked on July 16, 2019

Why is this not designed for use with suppressors, SBRs, or full auto?

A
Answered by Eric, member, from TX, United States, on August 21, 2019

Suppressors and short barrels mean that the gas exiting the muzzle will be at a higher pressure, which causes gas to vent rearward past the bolt and out of the slot where the charging handle goes. If the charging handle is latchless, it will shoot backward and hit you in the face.
