Is this suitable for a Sig Sauer 716i? If not, which Trijicon scope do you recommend?

Yes. The Trijicon VCOG 1-6x24 Rifle Scope would work great with a Sig Sauer 716i. I would definitely recommend using the 7.62/308 reticle which is designed to work with the same caliber used by your 716i. That means that the hashmarks on the reticle will be accurate to your rifle. There are a couple options you can choose from that utilize the 7.62/308 reticle. Picking the right one for you comes down to preference. You can get the TA51 mount that will be a little cheaper but add some bulk and weight, or the QD mount, which will be more streamlined and lighter-weight. There are also different reticle options. Red/Green, Horseshoe, or Crosshair. Any of them will work but you may prefer one over the other. I will link the options for the 7.63/308 reticle below:

These VCOGs are specific to caliber and bullet weight. If you're intending to swap the optic between the two, Trijicon does make a universal model that you could use. MPN's: 1600035, 1600036, 1600037, 1600038

Which scope would be good for 556?

Expert Answer

Answered by Armando R., Gear Expert, from IL, United States, on March 23, 2020

All of them would be a good option, but Trijicon offers very specific options depending on the color of the reticle you want and the weight of the round you are shooting predominantly. They offer both a 55 grain reticle and a 77 grain reticle for .223/5.56, but they also offer universal MOA or MIL option in both green and red illumination. Please email us at techsales@opticsplanet.com with any preferences you have and we can provide the part number to that specific model, but you can also click on a specific model under the "Models Available" and it will give you more specifics on the reticle.

There is not a difference other than MPN: 1600004-DEMO is a demo model.

The main crosshair can be zeroed for 308, however the holdovers will not be accurate.
