While I can't disagree with Angel's answer one bit, it does seem kind of dumb and a bit of an FU on Trybe's side it out a hole on a handguard where the QD hole is normally placed and not have it fit a QD. It's like they're mocking their customers. And making them waste money and an mlok slot to add a qd mount. Just sheer stupidity on the companies side. Actually going to ask my gunsmith if he could enlarge it to fit a QD before I buy this. Almost want to not buy it on principle of the company's oversight.

Is the barrel nut steel titanium or aluminum?

Rob-- The TRYBE Defense magnite handguards use a steel and nickel super alloy coated in black nickel nitride. This material is typically used for aerospace application due to its extremely high strength to weight ratio. Together it's harder than 4041 steel.

The TRYBE Defense AR-15 Magnite Go Fast Ultra Lightweight M-LOK Handguard in FDE will probably be a little darker than the Aero Precision FDE finish.

Their purpose is to index the handguard to the upper receiver, to prevent the handguard from being able to rotate.
