No, this brake uses a crush washer for proper timing. You will need a brake that uses a different method for mounting for use with a handgun.

Can this also work on 556/223 ruger pistol with same 1/2 x 28 thread pitch?

This will also work for the 5.56/.223 but the effect will be diminished due to the space between the bullet and the opening.
