• Proper optics mounting for consistent and predictable accuracy requires some basic, but critical steps to properly mount to the gun. This Master Grade combo includes two of the most critical scope mounting tools for accuracy and reliability
• Mounting the scope base - There is an ideal torque pressure that should be applied to scope base mounting screws that is determined based on two factors; the pitch of the screw threads, and the material the screw is made from. Torque specification requirements should always be determined and recommended through testing by the manufacturer for optimal performance of their product. Beware of any manufacturer that does not provide this guidance
• Torque Specification matter - There is a sweet spot for applying torque to a screw. Too light and the screw will work loose over time. Too tight and the integrity of the threads will be diminished through deformation. A precise inch-lb. torque driver is necessary to properly meet these torque specifications and reliably secure the scope base to the firearm. • Level the reticle - A level reticle is critical to long range Accuracy. For longer shots a canted (or unlevel) reticle will pull or push the bullets trajectory off of vertical center. It gets worse the further the distance increases. This is not something you can eye-ball. Even a one-to-two-degree variance (or cant) will cause big misses at distance. The optimal result is attained by perfectly aligning the vertical axis or apex of the rifle bore when it is perfectly leveled with the vertical axis of the reticle in the scope. This process is often referred to as leveling the reticle.
• Traditional leveling vs. Real Avid leveling - Traditional methods for leveling the reticle relied on independently leveling the firearm and the scope by balancing small levels on the scope turret and gun receivers and has been a commonly accepted practice for years. Not only is this a clumsy process, but its also wrong. The turret on most scopes is not perfectly aligned with the reticle (crosshairs), so even if your turret is level to the gun, your scope may not be. Level Right Pro changes all that by simplifying scope alignment in 4 easy steps. • Lock it down - At this point the reticle should be perfectly aligned with the rifle bore, and eye relief should also be set. This final step is again reliant on properly torqueing the ring screws to the manufacturers specifications to ensure the installation is correct and complete. Furthermore, over-torqueing the ring mounts will result in damage to the scope. Over-tightening these screws is the number one cause of scope damage/failure. • Check your work - Many manufacturers have a recommended process for installing these screws, but typically they are tightened in increments in a crossing pattern to ensure the scope doesnt become twisted or turned within the ring mounts and remains in perfect alignment.
