Most Helpful Positive Review My NXY-14 Gen 3 Monocular
I am former military and former law enforcement. If you are looking for a superior night vision monocular, look no further. This "military grade" device performs flawlessly. Light weight, sturdy, great clarity, sharp contrast. Everything you require in a night vision device. Plus Armasight Customer Service has been outstanding for me. I'd highly recommend this piece of equipment. Pros: well built, lightweight, bright, clear Cons: I'll let you know if I come up with any!

Mr. Jonny blue jeans

These night vision goggles work great. Very clear with no spots. You can see very clear on the darkest night. I bought an IR light to mount on my gun and you can see even better. This piece was well worth the money. A far sight better than the gen 2 models.

A Great Gen 3 Monocular

by Optical Guru, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on October 4, 2017
I purchased a NYX-14 Gen 3 Monocular which was a demo from Optics Planet. I was a little skeptical about open box items, but to my surprise, this item looks and operates like new. It has the resolution stated since I can easily see a dog at 100 yards in total darkness. I expect to use this device to find wildlife in the dark and I have no doubts it will do the job. I have ordered a 5x lens for it to reach out a little further and wish to see small wildlife at 200 yards but will require some extra illumination. It is yet to be determined if I can do that, so far I am very happy with this product.
Pros:
  • Resolution in total darkness
Cons:
  • Manuel gain adjust is just a bit stiff
Best Used for:
  • Looking a wildlife in total darkness

Pretty Incredible

by Arizona Guy, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on February 5, 2016
I have only bought a 1st Gen monocular 15 years ago and it was so bad, I sent it back.I had carefully reviewed several night vision monocular's and decided on this one. Having never used or owned a night vision device other than the 1st Gen I earlier mentioned, this one is incredible. EXCELLENT clear view, I could see the Javelena's 200-300 yards out into the open desert with ease! I bit the bullet spending more than I wanted on a night vision devise, but have no regrets! You get what you pay for, glad I chose this one!

Armasight monocular NYX-14 Gen 3 Pinnacle, manual gain NSMNYX1401P9DA1

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on February 2, 2014
This was part of a puchase I made from Optics Planet on Christmas eve. I actually received a call back from Steven at Armasight, who I believe is the owner, on Christmas eve at 4pm following up on a voice mail I left that day. I was very impressed and a little shocked to receive his call, and spent approx 15 minutes on the phone discussing Armasight products, and his recommendation for me based on my uses and needs. I was on the fence about Armasight at that point given the competition for these products, but that sold me. I am very happy I went with his suggestions. He talked me out of the Flag unit (for my purpose) and suggested the Pinnacle 3rd generation unit with manual gain. The 3G Pinnacle monocular is simply amazing. The image quality improvement over my Digisight N750 scope is beyond what I could have imagined. My experience with NV is that the image gets washed out when using IR lighting around trees or brush... Not so with this unit - partly because you don't need IR lighting! The manual gain feature is highly recommended, and provides a great range of brightness to choose from. I live in the country with no street lights, and minimal ambient light, and this thing makes all my friends jealous with the clarity and brightness of the image.

I use this monocular in a few ways: Scanning by hand, mounted on the head mount, and mounted in front of a scope. I use the head mount the most, and combined with a high end IR rifle laser, this is amazing for dealin...

Copter Doc.

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on November 21, 2012
Tried a very highly marketed competitor first and returned that one then went with this one and OH what a difference. You get a 40 degree field of view instead of just 12 degrees and the thing had two focus rings and a brightness control. The NYx-14 is also smaller than its primary competitor and has its IR unit built right in and not sticking out to the side. It is extremely easy to use for night sky/UFO watching and once you see what is going on up there it will spend much more time doing that then night hunting. Good excuse to get away from the wife & kids too. Once you see those sharp turns and shootouts going on way up there you will be hooked.
As for hunting this unit does not leave a "Lint" like track like others should you look at Venus or Jupiter and it's brightness control allows you to really light up the woods. If you have a rail or Weaver system simply move your existing scope forward and the NYx-14 easily snaps in place behind it. If you try to mount it behind a regular scope you will probably knock out your eye, .22 OK but a deer rifle, forget it. All in all I am well pleased with this unit and highly recommend it. I am also very appreciative of the Optics Planet Service people having to put up with my returns before I found the right night scope for me.
Pros: Very wide field of view and compact
Cons: Need to be able to go on the front of a traditional scope as well, not the rear

Very high quality product

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on August 30, 2012
I bought Nyx14 with the optional 3x and 8x lenses not long time ago but the results are just incredible! Really tough housing and clear image is exactly what I wanted to have. I can switch the lenses according to my intentions and that is very suitable for me! Now I can easily hunt for hogs, foxes, ducks and rabbits and not worry about visibility. I prefer to use it as an observational device with additional magnification, but there are also options to put it on an optional headgear, or even mount to a weapon. I like my device and would highly recommend it to everyone!
