I got tired of hunting at night with steel sights and fixed position green motion sensor lights. So, I bought this scope to help me control feral hogs on our county place. Mounting on an AR 15 was easy. Sight in was easy as well. Although the sight picture/resolution is not crystal clear, it is acceptable for my purposes. Other than the weight, no complaints as yet and it seems to work as advertised by turning night into day at a reasonable distance. It is 100+ yards downhill from my back porch to the tree line on our creek. Second night I had the scope, I lit up 2 piggy’s from a 40+ sounder rooting around down there.
Pros:
- Inexpensive, for night sights
- Optics Planet good service
Cons:
- Limited battery life
- Weight, a little heavy
- limited distance targeting
Best Used for:
- stationary short distance night hunting

I bought this unit for use on my Ruger 10/22 for backyard pest control. The unit has more than met my expectations at this price point. Clarity and resolution are good and the IR unit woeks good out to 100 yards!

Pros
Price range was reasonable. Good quality. Works everytime. Easy zeroing.
Cons
Heavy. Bulky, but that's why it's first generation.
Suggestions for future buyers.
Works best with an adjustable stock. Getting the correct eye relief can be challenging on a fixed stock base on the mounting system. Be creative when mounting there are built in positions to help.

I know this may not be the fanciest night scope out there and there are others far lighter as well, but for our intended use of hog hunting, this works just fine. Was easy to set up. Instructions were easy to follow. Calibration did not take long. Sighting at the range went well and we have used this on many night time hog hunts and for coyotes as well. Works well within 100 yards. I know there are plenty of people who will knock the product because it is not a multi thousand dollar high end product but I do not need a $3,000 or more night scope for hogs and coyotes. This works well for over a year and have not had any problems.

With most hogs coming at night destroying my cousins vegetable garden I decided to give this scope a try it was very reasonably priced so I figured why not.i received it in the mail I short order I mounted it to my crossbow without any trouble sighted it in and took it out that evening I could not believe the clarity of this scope I've used it with star and moonlight and it's amazing in total darkness the use of the illuminated function becomes necessary and your field of view becomes as good or better than with moon or starlight needless to say my cousins hog problem is no longer an issue I would highly recommend this scope .
Pros:
- easy to zero and to operate

Ive been shopping around for a while already and finally decided on Orion 4x. I will use it on my Remington to call coyotes in the back yard. I have not made any shot yet but I checked how it performed in the dark night with no moon. With IR on I could detect even small objects from 50 yards. This is enough for me so it is OK I did not buy Gen 2. Though, one day I will probably do it for other needs. By the way, Orion 4x comes with detachable infra red illuminator as included accessory.

I ordered this for a customer Feb/2014.
Had issue with cross hairs so sent it into Armasight in California with a check to upgrade to Vampire 3x. Never got the scope but was told on 3 different occasions it will be shipped but got NO email or phone call telling me so or tracking number. My business account was hacked into by a mobile phone user in San Francisco area 3 days after shipping the scope and upgrade check to the company in that area. March 27th I called for a refund check and recalled there accounting department to make sure it would be sent that same day and they told me yes.. Well will see but something dosen't seem right. Everyone at that company has Ukranian/ Russian last names so maybe it's a front company?
Hopefully my customer gets his money back but I will be writing to Zanders my wholesaler and the company.
Pros: it works for close range
Cons: return service staff are not helpful

The Armasight Orion 4x Gen 1+ Night Vision Rifle Scope for a Gen 1 Night Vision Scope is a Definite improvement over a previous noisy~gyro/sceechish? sounding Russian Manufactured Generation 1 3X scope I had bought & returned 7 years back?(Not purchased from here!)
The Armasite Orion 4X Scope is built like a tank! and rubber coated + quite. Also has much improved overall night vision picture quality/clarity under starlight conditions (yah I know it's a Gen 1 but $$$ less than a Gen2) And also with the new and improved? IR810 Illuminator - *Note "My Original IR810" (WITH an internal star plate seen behind the front lens on Original version IR810 Illuminator's lens when it worked before it Failed) Well with the replacement- brighter IR810 Illuminator replacement in Total darkness *Note#2 (IR red glow can been seen more so on the new IR810) Night Vision Capability is Very Good . A Very sturdy built "Work Horse" Unit for the money. I hope it will take.308 semi- auto recoil over time?
Pros: Value / Well Built
Cons: IR810 infrared illuminator Failed after little use
