Ares ETR 4.5-30x56 Riflescope
I was very excited to buy this optics. Unfortunately the first one I purchased at the range was dropped by accident while mounted on a 6.5-300 Weatherby Magnum. I sent it to Athlon and they quickly replaced it with a new one. On June 10 I take it to the range to zero in my rifle at 300 yards as the ...

excellent for the price
Dollar for dollar this scope is on par with higher end Vortex but half the price... I put is on my 17 HMR, AR 10 and my 300 Win Mag... I couldn't be happier... All rifles are tach drivers with 100 yrs sub MOA grouping. The glass is clear out to max zoom.
This is my new less than $2k scope... I will be buying more

Near top-tier scope
This is an excellent optic with clear glass & great features that you normally find in much more expensive FFP scopes. The adjustable elevation turret is key in shooting past 100 yards & returns to zero very well. So far I'm very happy with my purchase & the price.
Pros:
- First focal plane, easily adjustable, light in weight, less expensive than others in class
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- hunting, target shooting

New scope same gun
I purchased this scope for my 457 Varmint. I shot it with another scope and decided to try the Athlon. All I can say is its the same gun with a new scope shooting the same ammo with the same shooter but the groups are tighter. The reticle is clear and concise but I do have to zoom a little higher but that's my eyesight, not the scope. The view is clear all the way to the edge of the glass. Its Chinese glass but is as good as any Japanese glass I own. The scope adjusts and returns to 0 perfectly. Keep in mind that there are no lens covers, shade tube, or Throw lever. They do not even offer a throw lever but are available in aftermarket. Between lens covers, Shade tube, and throw lever you are looking at another 2 skins.
Pros:
- good scope
- Quality built
- does what it should
Cons:
- no lens covers
- no throw lever
- No sun shade tube
- All add ons expensive
Best Used for:
- Bench
- PRS & Extreme Long Range Shooting

Athlon ares
Great scope. The glass is clear at all magnifications. Plenty of elevation on turret.

Incredible
I replaced a Sightron 10-50X60 with this beautiful Athlon Ares ETR. Nothing wrong with the Sightron, but the Athlon will be better for this particular application. The clarity of this Athlon rivals my $4,000 Vortex Razor and I much prefer the Athlons MOA reticle in FFP. (Note OP threw my comment in the APRS1 reticle, but mine is actually the APLR5 reticle).
I placed this Athlon on a 6.5CM Savage 110 Elite Precision that I'll typically shoot from 100yd to 800yd and every 100 yards between. It is rare that I get to shoot the 1,000yd target, but this Athlon will most certainly handle the task.

High quality scope
Very nice scope. High quality at an awesome price point. Very clear, excellent tracking, easy zero locking procedure. Definitely worth the money.

Best bang for the buck, hands down
Clear optics out to 24x, tracking is 99.5-100%, zero stop, generous eye relief, kick a** reticle, illuminated, super tactile turret clicks, tough....on and on and on. Coming from a mindset that you have to spend big bucks to get good stuff, this scope blew me away. Compared to scopes that are almost quite literally 3 times the price, I kick myself for not jumping on one of these sooner. I can sit here, rant and rave, and tell you all the good things about it, but everyone's already done that. I'll tell you my only gripe with this scope. The magnification ring is crazy stiff. Had to order a throw lever to ease that problem. Other than that, WOW!!
Pros:
- Everything
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- PRS & Extreme Long Range Shooting

The Ares ETR is one of the best scopes in it's price range.
It's just flat out hard to beat when you consider glass quality, feature set, build quality, price and warranty. I can't say enough good things about this scope. I've been out to 550 yds with it and i have no doubts 1k and beyond will be no issue. Do youself a favor and look into what Athlon brings to the market.

Best bang for the money in this class!
I have had this scope for more than a year and it is great. It is on a 6.5 grendel hunter and is absolutely a better optic than most would put on that gun but it can keep 10 shots in 1 inch at 300 yards if I do my part. The eye box does get a bit tight at 30 but is quite a bit larger at 27x. There are definitely better scopes out there but this one is really the peak for the money. Other scopes that are 1800+ are better but only by very little.
Pros:
- Great intro to long range shooting.
Cons:
- Could have a more forgiving eyebox but that would cost more.
Best Used for:
- Long Range Shooting / Hunting / Competition / FUN
- long range shooting / hunting / competition
