Feeds Well, Shoots Well.
I never shot monolithic copper bullets before. I normally carry SIG V-CROWN JHP. Barnes VOR-TX 9mm Luger, 115 Grain fires well and reliably in a SIG P320 X-Compact. Multiple ballistic tests and results can be found on YouTube.
Hazardous Ammo, Poor Customer Service
POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS. If reading in late 2025, check boxes of rounds for proper seating. I received one box of Barnes VOR-TX to try out. I just checked a couple of rounds out, loaded it in my edc pistol and carried for a couple of days with one in the chamber. On the third day, when I cleared the chamber and went to place the round back in the magazine, I noticed that the bullet had become loose in the case, enough that I could spin the bullet 360 degrees as it barely clung to the casing. I emptied my magazine and found that 6 of the 20 rounds I received were not seated properly. The customer service from Barnes SUCKED. They were very interested in getting the defective rounds back for testing, but made me do all of the footwork sending it out to them only to go silent and cease communication once I sent the defective ammo to them. They required videos, photos, and finally the physical evidence from me before they would even consider replacing the defective ammo, making clear that despite the video evidence, they would not make the situation right until they got their hands on the defective ammo for testing. Maybe that’s common practice today, but in this customer’s opinion it was terrible form. They make it clear that the customer’s experience and ability to defend themselves is their last priority. It has been a month since I made them aware of the issue and over a week since they received the ammo from me. I’ve still got no Barnes bullets for my pistol. I followed up to se...

VOR-TX 9mm 115 gr. XPB (no lead (Pb)) Copper bullet
Barnes (of Utah) uses premium brass casings and this load has been tested by several in the industry and reviewed as a good cartridge for self defense. In my experience they are accurate at the range. I have difficulty with the concept of using this load as a 'hunting' cartridge and my limited knowledge of many state's handgun hunting laws, industry articles or regulatory agencies recommending or endorsing the 9mm as a hunting cartridge in the traditional sense of 'hunting'.
Pros:
- Barnes quality
Cons:
- Not for hunting
Best Used for:
- Self defense

Great ammo
Just about any loading with Barnes xpb (same as their tac-xp) is a great self defense load. Good to great penetration and expansion while also being lighter recoil so follow up shots are quicker. Love these and shoot them in all my pistols. Opticsplanet service and shipping was great as usual.

- Self and Home Defense
