Most Helpful Positive Review a lot of scope for the money
05/25/14 - This is an excellent value for the money. First focal plane reticle, 30mm tube, 50mm input, adjustable parallax it's loaded... I dont have a beef with the exit pupil diam, it meest advertised specs. I've mounted this scope on a new (never-fired) Remington 783 chambered in the 7mm rem-ma...

Most Helpful Negative Review Very poor product
I have had two Barska scopes the 6.5 20x50 was passable except for the unusable higher setting due to pathetic exit pupil and then the windage mechanism failed. The second was a SWAT Tactical 30mm tube 8x32 x 44 with side adjustment. I returned it unused because the exit pupil was so small that it w...

Great Prairie Dogging scope

by P doggin, from WI, United States Written on February 3, 2019
I mounted this scope on a Ruger Predator 22-250. I zeroed it at 100 yards and have been hitting dogs ever since. The first year, I did have to re-sight it in when I got to my destination cause it was off pretty substantially but, after that I have not had a problem with it. Last year I hit 3 Prairie dogs at 550 yards consecutively! I have been able to have sub-MOA accuracy at 100 yards and has just been a blast to shoot with.
One of the funny things to keep in mind with this scope is that the parallax adjustment does not have a measurement. But I have always just adjusted while looking through the scope anyways. Great scope but I don't think that I would use this for precision shooting where you have to mess around with the turrets. I mean the turrets have covers... you know, like a hunting scope! I do not dial the scope in when I use this scope I use use hold-overs cause I am killing Prairie dogs not winning a tournament especially with this very simple and basic Mil-Dot reticle.
Glass clarity is better than the Barska Varmint. In my opinion this should replace the Varmint series and they should come up with a better reticle for precision shooting. For the price it is wonderful though!
Pros:
  • Looks great
  • Stable and robust
  • adjustments are in 1/8th
Cons:
  • reticle is simple
Best Used for:
  • varmint and long distance target shooting
  • Hunting 50-600yds

Great Scope for my Remington 783 7mm Magnum

by Paul Baumgartner, Verified Owner from IN, United States Written on November 15, 2016
I mounted this scope on my Rem 783 7mm magnum. Optics are very good if you consider the price. Fist focal plane MIL-DOT reticle is great for ranging targets. I use Black Hawk 30mm tacticle rings and the scope stays put. The Rem 7mm magnum kicks like a frigging mule, but this use hasn't had any affect on this scope what so ever. The scope meets all the specs as advertised and is holding up fantasticly after several hundred rounds. I added the Vortex flip caps FC-5 and FC-7 (bought from optics planets also) and people are always stopping by at the range to check it out.

Just a fun scope that matches my rifle and shooting style.
