I bought this BCM receiver as a replacement for a colt upper receiver. I am very pleased with it. The BCM is milled exactly the same as my colt, and it has a nice finish on it. Note that when installing the barrel, it is a little bit difficult at first but once you get it in place, the connection is solid. What I had to do to get it in place with put the receiver in a vise block and gently hammer the barrel on with a mallet.

Okay so let's get this up front so everyone knows right away, this is a THERMAL FIT upper receiver.
What that means is that the barrel extension sleeve is slightly undersized so that you will NEED to use some heat to physically warm the upper receiver to slide the barrel in to this.

It is not that hard to do! This receiver seems to be only SLIGHTLY undersized, making the thermal fit process overall very easy. This was my first ever thermal fit installation, and it went very well. I wasn't expecting it, but I knew this day would come. I used an electric heat gun to heat the receiver, after greasing it lightly with Aeroshell 64, and everything went smoothly as it should.

The fit, and the finish of this receiver is outstanding. It's been compatible with my aftermarket parts. It is very well machined, with no defects, and a standard pattern of geometry. I installed Magpul ejection port cover, and a Geissele Super Rail. The barrel sleeve fit is undersized, but it is not so extreme that it will be impossible to remove the barrel if you need. This is a great upper receiver for anything you want to accurize, such as an SPR or match gun. I have used it with an SPR 18" build.

Came in faster than expected. It was in perfect condition.

I’ve used BCM uppers on several builds. My opinion is they are second to none. BE AWARE: these uppers require interference fit for barrel installation. Get your heat gun ready and be sure to allow adequate time for the heat to soak and expand for install. After successful install, the accuracy that’s attainable from a strong fit proves itself. With good quality barrels, my experience has always been sub MOA groups.

What can be said, this is an M4 Flat top upper. BCM makes quality parts, and the pricing here at Optics planet (and stock on hand) sold me on it. built this up with an 11.5" centurion CHF FBI barrel which did not require heating the upper to accept, fitment was nice and snug but not "cryo" as is sometimes required with these.

Phosphate/flat black finish, so it might not blend well with other manufacturers lowers. I think the selling point of these is the undersized barrel seat, requiring a thermal fit. Otherwise they are pretty Plain Jane and cost as much or more than Aero Precision M4E1 uppers that are also good for the money. My two cents, if you're on the fence, buy a different upper - I did.

Exactly how an upper receiver should fit a barrel with heat. Great finish and perfectly snug fit.

I've used two of these so far. They do have different star BCM markings due to BCM recently moving facilities and buying all their own manufacturing equipment. Specifically love these uppers for how tight the barrel fits. Does need heating, and a few taps with a rubber mallet sometimes, but works great. Barrel fitment is extremely tight. If you do not know what you are doing, I reccomend bringing it to a gunsmith.

These uppers are top notch! Super tight barrel fit, need to heat the rec for barrel to fit. Very nice fit and finish! BCM is top notch product! Highly Recommend!!!
