Most Helpful Positive Review Terrific Stock
I had read some things about the Axiom stocks being flimsy and held off on buying it for a long time. Dumb move. Unless you take a mallet to the stock while working out your frustrations with life, the stock seems to be more than up to the job. The recoil reduction for my .300 WSM is superb. With th...

Most Helpful Negative Review BlackHawk Knoxx Axiom Ultra-Light Rifle Stock
The stock reduces the recoil as advertised but the stock is not great quality. It took quite a while to make it fit the gun. The stock also did not line up equally on each side of the barrel. Pros: Reduces recoil as advertised. Cons: Quality is not very great.

I'm modifying mine

by ALAN, from AL, United States Written on January 4, 2021
Howa 308 16" heavy barrel: I love this stock! But gave 4 stars as there's room for improvement. I've just stiffened the fore-end with a piece of aluminum set in epoxy, this elliminated all the twisting. I wish it has a bottom rail (maybe) I'm useing a Harris bipod on a #9 mount to which I've added another sling stud. I bedded action w/Devcon, installed aluminum DBM for AICS mags. So far a net gain in weight of >6oz. Hopefully I can change the butt for an Axiom A-Frame Carbine Stock, that would reduce weight back to original.
Pros:
  • light weight
  • reduced recoil
  • Ergonomic and comfortable to hold
  • Fits Howa 1500
Cons:
  • No M-Lok available
  • Flimsy fore end with bipod
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • shooting

Son of a *#$&@+

by Doc, from WY, United States Written on December 13, 2020
I have three of these stocks all on different calibers. No matter what gun I grab they all feel and shoot the same, it all just depends on how much power I want. Pro’s lightweight, free floating, adjustable, very solid. The stocks work well with my family anyone can pick up the gun and adjust it to them quickly. The fact that the picture shows it with a cheek piece pisses me off. They do not come with it and they are very hard to find. “FIX THE PICS”

An expensive trainer

by bj, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on May 16, 2020
I know I could have cut down my R700 stock to fit my grandson. I know I could then add back wood, done that before, or pads. I know this is not cheap.

I also know I started a 10 yr old with a 243 and this stock [or course he started first with BB, pellet, 22LR, 223]. Worked well for taming the tiny recoil. Noise is always more of an issue than kick, but once they think it hurts, well, bad habits. After I put this heavier stock on [not really ultra light] his attitude improved, thinking a cure was occurring, and the adj stock was AR type cool. Now, no stranger to practice, he shoots better.

Probably not enough energy in the 243 to even feel the recoil reduction. Maybe 10%. I intend to change out for a 308W and take the boy to Africa. I get my 243 back and the original 700 wood.

For this application, the stock has value. If you want to change out for the Axiom, there will be some getting used to the shape and feel. Accuracy is as good or better than when in the wood. Would be very useful for wet weather.
Pros:
  • Accurate, compact, reduces recoil 10-20%
Cons:
  • $$$
Best Used for:
  • improving marksmanship

Junk, a waist of money

by Peedle, from CA, United States Written on March 7, 2019
I did buy one of these for my Howa 1500 in a .223. I put it all together and went to the range. On the first shot the spring loaded stock came apart at the joint that is supposed to slide to reduce recoil. I tried to have it returned , not to optics planet, but a different vendor. I was told that since I shot it, I owned it.

So, I ended up epoxing it all together. The for arm piece is flimsy. Now I am looking for something much better. It was an impulse purchase anyway. Never again.

Blackhawk axiom stock short action

by Leo, from TX, United States Written on September 3, 2018
I had to have my right shoulder replaced in 2016 and I was needing a recoil reduction stock for my model 700 - 308. This was the answer for my problem. It has reduced the recoil by half or more and now I am doing what I most enjoy - long distance shooting.

Knoxx Stock

by Straight shooter, from WA, United States Written on February 8, 2018
Stops that punishing recoil. We hunt elk in the desert and you need the magnum calibers for those long shots. Elk require 2000 ft lbs of energy for a clean kill. That requires a heavy bullet going fast. I'm thinking about a 338 Remington magnum which should be almost comfortable to shoot with this stock.
Pros:
  • takes the sting out of magnum calibers
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • reducing heavy recoil

Blackhawk axiom rifle stock

by Mike, from ID, United States Written on October 4, 2017
I wanted to convert a weatherby van guard rifle to a tactical long range rifle. The axiom stock fit perfectly. If you want to use scope with a 50mm or larger I recommend getting the optional cheek rest. This stock reduces felt recoil and looks great.
Pros:
  • Fit, reduced recoil, looks
Cons:
  • Cheek rest should come with the stock not an accessory

Mr. Kelham

by Dennis Kelham, from Australia Written on August 2, 2017
I BOUGHT ONE FROM A GUN SHOP IN QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA TWO WEEKS AGO FOR MY REMINGTON 700 SA. IT ARRIVED IN THE MAIL IN GOOD SHAPE. THE RECOIL LUG DOES NOT FIT THE STOCK [ SUPER TIGHT FIT ], AND THE ACTION SCREW HOLES ARE NOT CORRECTLY ALIGNED [ OFF A BIT ]. HAVE SENT FOUR EMAILS TO THE BLACKHAWK STOCK MANUFACTURER OVER THE PAST 10 DAYS - NO REPLY. SO I SENT IT TO MY GUNSMITH TO SEE IF HE CAN MAKE IT WORK. THE PAPERWORK IN THE BOX SAID IT WAS TO FIT MY RIFLE. NOT A HAPPY CAMPER. I WOULD NOT BUY ANOTHER ONE...

NOT A DROP IN. NOT EVEN CLOSE

by Mike, from AZ, United States Written on June 8, 2017
Will not drop into a long action rem 700 bdl. Much filing needed and pillars are not centered. Don't waste your money. Too many other better options are out there. Get a Grayboe and you won't be sorry. Mike
