Most Helpful Positive Review Great Buffer for AR 9mm
I've always known that 9mm ARs will recoil pretty hard, however, using this buffer with a JP .308 spring, the recoil was definitely softer than an M4 Carbine. That's a win if you ask me. Definitely helps to create a reliable 9mm AR with out any cycling issues. You can feel some of the recoil, but it isn't as violent as an overgassed AR.

EPC nine absolute must

by Gordon Fletcher, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on February 11, 2026
I was watching a ton of videos and it kept saying you needed to have a heavier buffer tube with stronger spring otherwise your EPC nine will have a lot of failures so far they were 100% correct and I love it

Awesome for refining the AR-9 PCC platform

by Beefsledge Gladbasturd, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on September 1, 2025
Used in a PSA AR-V 7” tri-lug blowback 9mm. I bought the “Gentle Recoil System” as explained by Blowback9 on u tube and his wordpress site. This buffer, 2 tungsten spacer weights, Tubb flatwire carbine spring, Just Right Carbines extended length buffer tube. This buffer setup combined with a Magpul K2-XL grip and SB Tactical SBA5 brace, transformed the gun, from a regret to an asset.

Paired with a Sprinco red spring it works great

by J, Verified Owner from MA, United States Written on March 28, 2025
I replaced the Spikes AR9 buffer and stainless spring I have had in my New Frontier G9 gen2 8” pistol build for the last 4 years. It made a pretty noticeable reduction in recoil keeping the barrel more on target with repeated shots and reduced the buffer spring noise. It was smooth and shot well before but the new set up is just so much quieter and softer shooting.
Pros:
  • Quiet, easier to stay on target with repeated fire.
Cons:
  • Price is a little steep but it works.
Best Used for:
  • Ar9 pistols with a barrel over 8 inches.

Works perfect for my PCC

by TswissT, Verified Owner from LA, United States Written on August 26, 2024
Just installed this in my S&W Response... I have been to the range a few times since install and have put about 1500 rounds without any issues... I cannot say there is a noticeable decrease in felt recoil, because there wasn't much to begin with. But I can say that the gun is running flawlessly and I attribute some of the smooth firing to this buffer.

KynSHOT buffer

by Arturo, Verified Owner from WV, United States Written on May 22, 2024
Replaced the stock buffer in Springfield Saint 9mm. I had to remove the spacer in the buffer or it wouldn't lock back after the last round. Works flawlessly. No more spring sproing.

It Works...

by Ab, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on February 23, 2024
My AR9 was doubling a little bit and I experienced an OBD due to bolt bounce several years ago. This prompted me to look for ways to mitigate these issues. After combing the internet and the forums I came across many AR9 owners. One specifically by the handle of 'Blowback9'. His years of experience, research and practical applications on optimizing the AR9 lead to this purchase.
Well long story short, those who have used this buffer were right. Felt recoil was reduced, no doubling and no OBDs occurred after install and test fire. Most will say that the Blitzkrieg 2.5oz spacer should be used in tandem with this buffer, but I tested without the spacer and it still worked. But as always, err on the side of caution and run this buffer with the spacer, or purchase a heavier bolt.
Now the con. There's only one really. Since the buffer is about half an inch longer than a standard buffer then adding the thickness of the spacer, your bolt will not fully reciprocate into the buffer tube. This will not effect feeding or ejection of casings, but it will negate your last round bolt hold open feature/manual BHO lever. If this annoys you, this can be rectified by purchasing an A5 buffer tube. These tubes are a little longer than your standard carbine tube. This allows the buffer, spacer and bolt to travel further back thus allowing BHO features to work.
Yes I know all this seems like a chore, but when dealing with the AR9s it truly is a balancing act. If you want more in depth explanati...

Kynshot AR9 HD buffer

by Stvo, from SC, United States Written on February 23, 2024
Takes some of the snap out of the recoil of the ar9 and creates a softer felt recoil. Is it night and day? No. But does make a difference. I'm happy with it and will probably get another.
