Burris 8-40
First off this is not the scope you want to put on anything but a bench rifle with long range ambitions. I own 3 of these on 3 different precision rifles a 6mm creedmoor, 6.5 creedmoor, and a 338 Lapua. Great clear optics throughout the zoom ranges. The f class reticle is great for ranging distances...

Long range shooter.
The F class from burris is far to busey on the retical. Its very hard to see targets out over 250 to 300 yards in all weather conditions. I found it to be clear but on a hot sunny day the lenses tend pick up hazing. The front focal plane for most of my applications doesn't suit. Other than my opinio...

Good at 50 meters +
Good price and a good quality BUT I can’t get it to focus at 50 yards- it will focus at 50 meters but not at 50 yards. I bought 2 of these because the price was good. But Beware….
Pros:
- Good for long range
Cons:
- Will not focus at 50 yards!
Best Used for:
- Long range 50 meters +

Higher Magnification Useless!
I've always like Burris scopes and I have other brands, a Leupold VX6 and 2 Nightforce scopes(NXS 5.5-22x56 and 12-42x56 Benchrest model). I needed a high power scope for a 223 for prairie dog hunting and thought this would work great. It is clear and nice up to about 20-25 power and after that turns blurry and forget about 40 power! I tried readjusting the ocular and refocusing but it just isn't clear. I got this on clearance and should have known that if the price is too good to be true then it is! Thought about sending it back to Burris but I may just sell it and be done!

Burris scope
Absolutely fantastic glass This scope changed an accurate M1A NM into an .5 moa tack driver. GREAT turrents that work precisely and stay locked. I could not ask for more. Nobody will be sorry they bought one . I'm going for another one later.
Pros:
- Great glass and adjustments that lock and stay, precise
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- Long range use but great close up as well
Would recommend: Yes
Limited use
Good price and service from OP. But this is a very specialized scope. Will not focus at 50 yards. It made for long range shooting. Sight in is best at over 50 yards. Dark at high magnification as expected. Not for any air guns or Rimfire.
Pros:
- price.
Cons:
- Too specific for general use
Would recommend: No
Fantastic!

great…BUT it won’t focus at 50 yards
Great scope BUT does not focus well at 50 yards, it will at 50 meters, it would be better if it could get down to 15 yards, that would take it into a higher price range.
Glass is bright and sharp, and the reticle is easy to look at.

Don't care for 34mm tubes, but otherwise....
I don't care for 34mm tube scopes. Frankly, don't even like 30mm tubes. I think they simply ruin the looks of a fine fire arm and provide relatively little real gain in terms of performance. Having said that, I own Nikon Monarchs, high end Weavers, high end Bushnell, Leupolds, Sightrons and many Burris offerings, and particularly for the price point, this scope is easily the equal of, if not superior to, even the most expensive of these listed. It would be nice if there was a wider variety of reticles to choose from, but in terms of optical performance, it is top flight. Clarity is outstanding throughout the entire adjustment range, color and image is sharp, adjustments repeat like clockwork. This one is worth the money.
Pros:
- Excellent performance in virtually every category
Cons:
- Limited reticle selection and 34mm tube size
Best Used for:
- Long Range Bench Rest and F Class comp
Would recommend: Yes

Looks great on my rifle
Zeroed in at 200 yards with sun in my face burring the scope eye sight view out
Will try later at 300 yards in better conditions.
Turrets adjusted well.
