I don’t have many rounds through my rifle with the dot mounted. The window seems large with the glass clear and the emitter seems to produce a clean dot. The mount that comes with the optic worked well, though the bolt used to tighten the optic is only torqued to 20 in. lb., which is lower than other optics I have used. I like the optic so far, but time will tell.
Install was a bit tight in the dovetails, if you have a sight pusher it might make your life easier. The yellow surround really helps the front sight stand out, and the contour of the rear sight matches well with the slide and helps draw attention to the front sight. Tritium glows well.
If you already own an ALS holster or have owned one in the past this product is yet another line in that series, though in the case of the one I bought it is now designed for Staccato/2011 style pistols. If you haven't used an ALS holster before, this is primarily a duty holster (likely legal in some competitions as well) that provides a level of active retention, that being a device that has to be manually disengaged/depressed before the pistol can be drawn. In the case of an ALS holster you depress a lever with your strong hand thumb as you draw. This version of the Safariland requires a light to be mounted to function properly and allows for a red dot to be mounted.
I have tried this with both a Staccato C2 with a Holosun EPS red dot mounted and a Springfield Armory Prodigy 4.25" with no red dot. I have tried both with two different weapon lights, a Streamlight TLR-1 HL and a Surefire X300 Turbo. The holster locks securely onto the pistols with both lights and draws smoothly. The draw was very smooth right out of the box/bag. I am not using the belt attachment, rather I have the pistol mounted to an ALS locking fork that attaches to the correct connection on my belt. That the holster seems to work with both a Staccato and a Prodigy is nice in that my guess is you can use it for those style pistols without needing to purchase something different for each brand.
Was some of the most affordable 357 magnum I could find, and from a brand I at least recognized. It has functioned well in both my S&W Model 19 revolver as well as my Henry lever-action rifle. At first I thought it wasn't very "hot", but in going from the lever-action to the revolver I believe the advertised velocity.
If you have something like a Surfire LM2 then you're dealing with 200 lumens of output. This gives you 500 lumens of output in the same footprint for not much cost. Now that said, there are now options other than Surefire, such as the Streamlight TL Racker. That will give you 1000 lumens of output and that entire accessory costs less than this. Your call.
Works well. It takes a little practice to really build a rhythm with it. I feel like it's more useful for doing a number of magazines at a time. If you're only doing 1-2 magazines I'm not sure how much time this will really save you.
