Not what you would expect, not what what i expected.

Written on Jan 03, 2019

Looking at the stock photos of rubber butt pads on both optics planet and strike industries site, you'd think this would be comfortable and soft, but it's not.

From the pictures I was expecting a nice squishy rubber butt pad but the material they used is very hard, like a shore 90 nitrile oring (your standard black oring is normally 80 shore, i am comparing this rubber butt pad as a shore 90; think of it as 80 as medium hardness for rubber and 90 as stiff hardness.

no matter how i shouldered it, it felt very very weird because the rubber butt pad is rounded outwards rather than being flat or concave and it does not form or squish to your shoulder like you would expect.

If anything, imma cut, shave, and sand away the extra rubber in between the triangles to see if the rubber butt pad squishes to conform with shouldering and allow it to absorb recoil or not to make it more comfortable to hold.

But if anything for 12 bucks it's an item that wouldn't hurt to see if you like it or not. I just was expecting more out of it especially when it comes to comfort. It's just not for me.

Probably the best Red Dot for the price due to features and Trijicon RMR mounting footprint.

Written on Dec 29, 2018

So happy to have found this red dot while googling for the cheapest Trijicon RMR RM04 I could find. Wasn't willing to pay more than $350 since that's what a friend paid for, here on OpticsPlanet. Not sure when he got it but prolly a few years ago.

The features on this red dot alone, my personal opinion FOR THE PRICE, out-weigh the features on the Trijicon RMR RM04. But then again, both have advantages against each other when it comes to their features as their features are not similar; you may consider a feature an advantage/disadvantage, and vice versa, one over the other. The Trijicon RM04 features a fiber optic and Tritium illumination whilst the Holosun 507C features ADJUSTABLE battery and solar illumination WITH THE ADDITION of changing either circle or dot AND illumination adjustment.

Oh, did I mention the Holosun 507C has 10k hrs of battery life and auto's on when the sight notices movement because it does, and it works. The down side is that the sensor that noticed the movement is kiond of sensitive, so if you have it on your person or your carrying, it will be on. But, if it's in safe, sitting right next to you, under your pillow, in your glove box, on your gun stand/rack, it will remain off until it senses it has been moved.

With each red dot having different features and none of which feature any similarity in terms of features other than the Trijicon RMR mounting footprint you really cant go wrong either either one unless you are relying/wanting a certain featu

Best Bang for your Buck laser/light combo

Written on Dec 20, 2018

Bought this for my custom Glock 17 when on sale during black friday/cyber monday. This combo has the simple features you'd want out of this system such as Light on/Laser on/Light and Laser ON that you would want out out of the box. Went to the range, dialed it in at about 50 feet and got a solid 2" grouping. Because of the way it was designed to be installed onto the Glock frame, it makes it extremely stable and reliable so long as you don't have a wobbly barrel and slide.

To install you remove the 3 screws, unhook the battery cover, and open up the clamshell housing. Then fit it over the rail AND the trigger guard and reinstall the 3 screws. Drop in your 2 batteries and snap the battery door closed.

It looked odd on my compensated G17 but I'd be damned if this product didn't do with what was advertised. I am very impressed with this light/laser combo. This would look way better on a sub-compact and compact frame like the 26 and 19.

The one downside to this is, in my opinion, the weakest factor (you may not consider it, but I do) are the buttons. The buttons are membrane buttons and I just dont like the way they feel. I have no doubt that the membrane buttons are reliable, it's just that it feels, cheapish.

I've since replaced this light/laser combo with a Olight PL-2RL BALDR mainly for the aesthetic looks and same features with the ability to blind people with 1200 lumens; it unfortunately weighs ALOT more than the TLR-6. But if I had a Glock sub-compact frame like the 2

AKA the "Needle in a Hay Stack" kit

Written on Dec 20, 2018

Last year I built my first AR15 .556 (my first firearm for that matter) I managed to lose both Takedown/Pivot Detents and one Spring to one/either of them when completing my lower. Then proceeded to completely smash the the Buffer Detent Spring when charging the handle for the first time, because like an idiot I didn't screw in the Buffer Tube to catch the Detent during final install. Wish I double checked everything.

Either way I ordered this kit, replaced those parts and my AR shoots great with no FTL/FTF/FTE.

With what was lost/broke, this kit was able to replace those 3 parts, and even more so with what is included. This is IMO, the ultimate OOPS kit with the very parts you need that you will most likely and potentially lose/replace during building/maintenance/rebuilding and even refurbishing.

Also for the price you can't say no.
