Surprised with the quality of nickle boron

This 308 bolt is shot peened, mpi, HPT INDIVIDUALLY (not batch tested) all the best highest grade steel on bolt and carrier. Very slippery. Tight gas system and headspaced perfectly on a go gauge. I looked up the specs on MFR site after I bought it on sale and it specs out in top tier. Totally worth it for the price.

Too rough on the hands

The engagement surface is way too aggressive without gloves. Further the example I was sent was bent in two planes and caused lots of cycling issues. Once I replaced it my gun felt like a whole new gun. Never been so happy to throw a gun part in the trash.

It works fine with a little work

Mine was pretty dinged up on the polishing surface. Definitely not ready to go. I took a 3/4”wide fine metal file and cleaned up the worst bits then I put it in a drill and held the file flat against the engagement surface until it was all the same plane. Don’t worry about the center post when you file it. It doesn’t matter to the final goal. Once I did all that it was good to go and did three receivers really nicely. All in all an easy fix for an affordable tool.
Poor fitment with lugs

It does not fully fit tightly with the lugs on 308 barrel. It allows too much flex in the receiver while torquing the barrel nut. Easily 10 degrees. Pacific machine and tool might be a better option.
