Satisfied with this hub mount

Review for
Kaw Valley Precision Direct Thread Hub Mount
Works as advertised. No issues with threading. Overall this is a quality product. It is steel, but not super heavy. There are similar generic adapters made from Titanium that weight less but are significantly more expensive. I needed this product to affix a 1.375" can directly to a 1/2"x28 threaded barrel without muzzle devices. Using a this hub mount, as opposed to muzzle device mounts, there is noticeably decreased the weight at the end of the barrel.

Strange chemical smell when fired, leaves residue, but performs well and you can't beat the price
Written on Jan 29, 2024
Ammo performs well and is fun to shoot. However you should know that this powder burns dirty. There is a foul chemical burning smell in the air after shooting. Also more residue on average. Aguila and Blazer are cheap dirty ammo but they do perform well. The cleanest .22lr ammo I have used so far is federal match, it leaves very little residue but is also inconsistent because one box had 1-2 light primer strikes per magazine. This aguila ammo had 1 or 2 light primer strikes out of 100 rounds. Overall not bad for budget ammo. Can't beat the price $3.49 for 50.

great optic.

When choosing a red dot, Make sure it has "shake awake" / turns on automatically when detects motion. This is key. Because the optic is not useful if you have to tell the criminal "hey wait a sec let me press the on button". Holosuns can enable or disable this feature.
Also get an optic that has easy battery removal (such as this model), not that you will be changing the battery too frequently unless you leave it on 24/7. Thus you don't need to re-zero your optic after you change the battery.
Wouldn't use for this model for competition. But it's Not hard to acquire dot.
I bought this elsewhere but i'd recommend it. Also look into the 507k ACSS which has a large 230 MOA circle on the edge of the field of view of the optic which WILL help you acquire your target faster, especially newer shooters, as if you see the edges of that large circle you immediately know where to adjust. Same idea with 507c ACSS and 509 ACSS's.

Highly recommend. Easy to install. Fixed issue with failure to eject spent casings.

When running a few magazines through my newly purchased, S&W M&P 15-22P, I had 4 failure to ejects. Which are annoying because this interrupts the shooting experience. After doing some research, I decided to replace the factory extractor with this Volquartsen model. It was a quick and easy install, and there are YouTube videos for guidance. All spent casings ejected properly from that point forward. I did not have any further failure to extracts after that point, and 400+ rounds later there are still no issues. But next I should probably replace the factory firing pin with the pin made by this same Volquartsen company as I am having occasional light primer strikes.

Decent Ammo

Good ammo. Shoots fine. My only gripe is that the rounds are split up inside of plastic cases which you need to cut with a knife in order to remove the rounds.

1 failed primer strike out of 100

Can't beat the price! Good reliable ammo. Feeds well, Shoots well. Shoots clean. Only had one issue: a light primer strike on one single round out of 100, otherwise no issues.

10-20% these "automatic" rounds fire "lightly" so do not fully cycle the firearm for next shot
Written on Aug 23, 2023
EDIT: When I shoot this ammo from a semi-auto, I have light strikes about 1 out of every 5-10 rounds. What happens is that a dud round fires, but does not explode with enough force to completely cycle the bolt carrier. The next round does enter the chamber but will not fire. The gunshot sound of a light primer strike is also distinct and not as loud so you can immediately tell that something happened. This interrupts the shooting session by requiring manual chamber cycling and then having to decide what to do with the ejected live round. I do not believe it to be an issue with the semi-22 firearm, because I have used several other brands of ammo and never had this light strike issue, only with these 325 round boxes of Federal "Automatch" boxes. I believe this to be a pure ammunition quality issue. Maybe I just happened to get a bad lot. For this reason I will not purchase this type of ammo again.
The good thing about this ammo is that it fires very cleanly, leaving very little residue on magazines in the chamber+barrel compared to say blazer ammo.
